[01:10](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7x1UCXXw6GU&t=70s) Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Cleanser

Cleansing is an indispensable foundation of any routine and should be done at least once daily to clear away dirt, sebum, makeup residue, and airborne allergens. Dr. Dray introduces the Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Cleanser, which she thoroughly enjoyed using throughout the summer. The formula produces a rich, dense, and creamy lather that feels exceptionally luxurious on the skin. She dispels the common misconception that a cleanser's foaming ability directly correlates with how deeply or thoroughly it cleans; foam is merely a sensory attribute of the user experience rather than a measure of cleansing power.

What truly sets this cleanser apart is how thoughtfully it protects the skin barrier while washing away impurities, never leaving the face stripped or feeling "squeaky clean." The formula incorporates barrier-replenishing actives, including three forms of water-binding hyaluronic acid to maintain critical hydration levels in the stratum corneum, and ceramide NP, a crucial physiological lipid that helps repair the barrier and stimulates natural ceramide production. Soothing agents like panthenol and allantoin further counter potential irritation. The product rinses away clean without any lingering residue, tightness, or dry patches.

- **Primary Texture:** Thick, dense, creamy lather. - **Key Ingredients:** Three molecular forms of hyaluronic acid, ceramide NP, panthenol, and allantoin. - **Skin Benefits:** Thoroughly lifts sebum, dirt, and cosmetic residue without compromising the moisture barrier.

[02:43](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7x1UCXXw6GU&t=163s) Round Lab Birch Juice Moisturizing Cleanser

The second cleanser featured is also from Round Lab: the Birch Juice Moisturizing Cleanser, which Dr. Dray confesses might be her favorite between the two. Unlike the rich, opaque Dokdo foam, the Birch Juice cleanser is a clear, colorless gel with a slightly more hydrating finish on the skin. It is formulated at a mildly acidic pH between 5.0 and 6.0, closely aligning with the natural pH of the acid mantle. Cleansers formulated within this lower pH range tend to be significantly gentler and less disruptive to skin physiology.

The star component of the formula is birch sap, which naturally supplies an abundance of amino acids, minerals, antioxidants, vitamins, and natural sugars that function as effective humectants. These components mimic the natural moisturizing factors (NMFs) already present in the stratum corneum, helping the skin hold onto moisture throughout the cleansing process. Additionally, the formula includes *Artemisia* (mugwort) extract, a powerhouse anti-inflammatory botanical that calms sensitivity, redness, and irritation. While both Round Lab cleansers provide a gentle, non-stripping cleanse that preserves barrier integrity, the Birch Juice formula delivers an exceptionally refreshing, lightweight wash.

| Feature | Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Cleanser | Round Lab Birch Juice Moisturizing Cleanser | |:--- |:--- |:--- | | **Texture & Appearance** | Opaque, dense, creamy foam | Clear, colorless hydrating gel | | **pH Range** | Standard balanced cleanser | Low pH (~5.0–6.0) matching the acid mantle | | **Star Ingredients** | 3 types of Hyaluronic Acid, Ceramide NP, Panthenol, Allantoin | Birch Sap (NMFs, minerals, sugars), *Artemisia* (Mugwort) Extract | | **Sensory Feel** | Rich, luxurious, and conditioning | Crisp, light, and deeply hydrating | | **Best Suited For** | Barrier-compromised skin desiring a plush lather | Sensitive, reactive, redness-prone skin |

[04:17](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7x1UCXXw6GU&t=257s) Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Toner

Moving into leave-on skincare, Dr. Dray discusses using a liquid toner or essence immediately after cleansing to prime the skin. While not strictly mandatory in a minimalist routine, liquid toners provide an easy vehicle for anti-inflammatory, soothing actives and antioxidants to protect against daily environmental aggressors. The Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Toner had long been on her radar while shopping for K-beauty. It possesses a completely weightless, watery consistency with zero tackiness, stickiness, or viscosity, making it an ideal first step immediately following cleansing.

Despite its water-like fluidity, it is far more than a simple bottle of water. The toner provides extremely mild, non-abrasive exfoliation without traditional chemical exfoliating acids like glycolic acid. Instead, by dramatically saturating the outer layer of the skin with moisture, it softens the bonds between dead skin cells, promoting gentle natural desquamation. This makes it an ideal remedy for skin that is actively irritated, flaky, or peeling from retinoid use or an overzealous skincare routine. The formula features red algae, which is rich in protective antioxidants and water-trapping polysaccharides, alongside sugarcane extract for added hydration. Dr. Dray typically pours a small splash directly into her palms and pats it onto damp skin in the morning or straight out of the shower.

- **Texture Profile:** Purely watery; zero slip, viscosity, or post-application tackiness. - **Mechanism of Exfoliation:** Moisture-driven cellular desquamation rather than harsh chemical peeling. - **Key Ingredients:** Red algae (polysaccharides and antioxidants) and sugarcane extract. - **Application Method:** Poured into hands and pressed directly onto freshly washed, damp skin.

[06:05](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7x1UCXXw6GU&t=365s) Round Lab Birch Juice Moisturizing Sun Cream SPF 50+ PA++++

Dr. Dray highlights daily sunscreen as one of her all-time favorite skincare categories, noting that Korean skincare brands excel at creating daily sun protection that is elegant, hydrating, and virtually undetectable on the skin. She revisits the Round Lab Birch Juice Moisturizing Sun Cream SPF 50+ PA++++, a holy-grail product she has personally repurchased and recommended in numerous videos. The sunscreen absorbs effortlessly without grease, does not pill under makeup, leaves zero white cast, and causes no stinging or burning around the delicate eye area or on the neck. "You don't even realize you're using sunscreens, they're that comfortable to apply," she notes, comparing the sensory experience to applying a light daily moisturizer.

Beyond its base of birch sap, hyaluronic acid, and sodium hyaluronate, the formulation includes niacinamide (vitamin B3). Niacinamide combats oxidative stress, mitigates UV- and pollution-induced free radical damage, and assists with excess sebum production and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

The crowning achievement of modern Korean sunscreens lies in their advanced chemical UV filters, which are not currently approved or available in the United States. Purchasing through authorized distributors like Stylevana ensures consumers receive authentic products rather than counterfeits. This formula relies on advanced, photostable broad-spectrum filters—specifically Uvinul A Plus, Uvinul T 150, and Tinosorb M—which deliver robust, cosmetically elegant protection against both UVA and UVB rays without heaviness or irritation.

[08:33](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7x1UCXXw6GU&t=513s) Wrap-up on Round Lab Sun Cream & Intro to SKIN1004

Korean cosmetic formulators excel at crafting sun protection that sidesteps the heavy, pasty hurdles commonly encountered in the US market, making such formulas versatile picks whether skin is dry, combination, or oily. Moving into another beloved staple of the K-beauty landscape, Dr. Dray spotlights the brand SKIN1004 and their hydrating Cica lineup. The therapeutic backbone of this line relies on centella—specifically the isolated active compounds madecassoside, asiaticoside, madecassic acid, and asiatic acid—which supply anti-inflammatory and soothing properties while potentially assisting with cutaneous wound healing.

[08:48](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7x1UCXXw6GU&t=528s) SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Plumping Ampoule

Dr. Dray highlights the Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Plumping Ampoule as an exceptional multi-tasker that "almost cloaks your face." It utilizes polyglutamic acid, an intensely hydrating humectant that forms a featherlight surface film to curb transepidermal water loss. The formulation also integrates physiological lipids via ceramides to repair the moisture barrier, soothing niacinamide to calm erythema and post-inflammatory pigmentation, and glutathione, an antioxidant showing real promise for hyperpigmentation. To support skin structure and moisture retention, the ampoule incorporates a cocktail of peptides—including copper tripeptide and multiple hexapeptides—which Dr. Dray notes may, to a certain extent (pending more robust independent clinical data), help facilitate collagen and elastin remodeling to smooth fine lines and surface irregularities.

When fitting this ampoule into a daily regimen, consistency dictates product order. While watery, thin, and lightweight, the formula possesses "a little bit of grip to it" compared to completely fluid toners. Therefore, it should be patted in after cleansing, ideally layered on top of any thin, purely water-based fluid like the Dokdo toner, and allowed to absorb before following with richer moisturizers and daytime sunscreens.

- **Key Actives:** Centella extracts (madecassoside, asiaticoside, madecassic acid, asiatic acid), polyglutamic acid, ceramides, niacinamide. - **Peptides & Antioxidants:** Copper tripeptide, hexapeptides, glutathione. - **Application:** Use morning and night after light liquid toners, prior to heavier creams.

[10:41](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7x1UCXXw6GU&t=641s) SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Glass Skin Milk

Moving beyond clear liquid toners, Dr. Dray explores the Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Glass Skin Milk, a milky toner emulsion that acts like an ultra-thin, weightless lotion with a slight emollient phase. It is an ideal intermediate layer for anyone with dry, oily, or combination skin who desires thorough hydration without resorting to a heavy cream, allowing users to build hydration in steps during morning prep or alongside nighttime treatment actives.

The formula incorporates ectoin, an extremophile-derived osmolyte that mitigates oxidative stress and delivers an instantaneous soothing, plumping surge of moisture. It also includes polyhydroxy acid (PHA) for gentle surface exfoliation suitable for reactive skin, alongside nonapeptide-1 to combat discoloration and palmitoyl pentapeptide-4 for moisture retention and signaling support. Because it has more emollient slip and weight than a typical water serum, it is thick enough to layer directly over the Plumping Ampoule as an ultra-light moisturizer.

[12:23](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7x1UCXXw6GU&t=743s) SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Firming Cream

The Firming Cream earned Dr. Dray’s deep appreciation during a personal skincare emergency. Despite normally having what she describes as a "stratum corneum of steel" from routinely evaluating myriad formulations, a non-Korean product she tested wrecked her moisture barrier, triggering an uncommon bout of severe parched dryness. Pausing that irritating product and combining the Glass Skin Milk with this Firming Cream restored order within days: "it was peace on facial earth."

Though rich in restorative ingredients—centella triterpenes, ceramides, sodium hyaluronate, and ectoin—the texture remains cosmetically elegant without sliding into a greasy mess. It features acetyl hexapeptide-8 (Argireline), often marketed colloquially as "Botox in a bottle." Dr. Dray clarifies that labeling it as such is an industry exaggeration because topical peptides cannot penetrate down to the neuromuscular junction like clinical injectables, though small commercial studies do show promise for softening the look of expression lines like crow's feet through superior surface hydration. Despite its barrier-repair capacity, the cream breathes effortlessly in hot, humid summer weather, making it a viable rescue cream for sticky, tropical climates.

[14:08](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7x1UCXXw6GU&t=848s) SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum SPF50+ PA++++

A recurring favorite and frequent repurchase for Dr. Dray, the Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum shares broad formulation parallels with the Round Lab Birch Juice sunscreen while spotlighting centella asiatica, hyaluronic acid, soothing niacinamide, and nourishing rice extract. The core draw of Korean sunscreens remains their modern UV filter profiles, which provide high-grade broad-spectrum defense while feeling like an imperceptible daily fluid.

The formula relies on photostable filters approved outside the United States, including Uvinul T 150 (UVB), Uvinul A Plus (UVA), Tinosorb M, and diethylhexyl butamido triazone (Iscotrizinol). Because there are no harsh, eye-stinging aromatic filters, the lotion can be smoothed directly over the eyelids and surrounding orbital skin without causing watering or burning. It dries down with zero white cast, reducing irritation and flakiness while masquerading completely as a featherlight daily moisturizer.

- **UV Filters:** Uvinul T 150, Uvinul A Plus, Tinosorb M, Diethylhexyl Butamido Triazone. - **Key Skincare Additions:** Centella asiatica, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, rice extract. - **Finish:** Undetectable finish, sting-free around sensitive eye areas, zero cast.

[15:30](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7x1UCXXw6GU&t=930s) Celimax Dual Barrier Creamy Toner

Dr. Dray transitions to Celimax, highlighting their Dual Barrier Creamy Toner as a standout option for depleted or mature complexions. Because intrinsic epidermal ceramide concentrations fall as skin ages, replenishing these inter-corneocyte lipids is essential for fighting chronic trans-epidermal moisture loss.

Beyond ceramides, the distinctive element in this creamy toner is Aquatide, a synthetic peptide engineered to stimulate autophagy—the intracellular recycling pathway—and activate SIRT1 (frequently called the longevity-associated protein). This mechanism is thought to stimulate skin cells to synthesize their own structural barrier lipids. Dr. Dray notes that while laboratory cell-culture findings on autophagy peptides are still emerging and do not automatically translate to dramatic clinical transformations, the toner offers deeply luxurious nourishment on par with the SKIN1004 milk toner.

[16:36](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7x1UCXXw6GU&t=996s) Celimax Oil Control Light Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++

Addressing continuous audience requests for Korean sunscreens featuring zinc oxide, Dr. Dray reviews the Celimax Oil Control Light Sunscreen SPF 50+. Rather than being a pure physical block—which is relatively uncommon in modern Korean skincare releases—this product is a hybrid formulation combining mineral and organic sunscreens. It blends zinc oxide and titanium dioxide with contemporary chemical filters: Uvinul A Plus, Tinosorb S, and ethylhexyl triazone.

Dr. Dray explains that hybrid sunscreens offer the "best of both worlds." Combining mineral screens with advanced organic filters minimizes the typical stinging and burning linked to purely chemical filters for reactive skin, while avoiding the pasty, unblendable chalkiness of pure 20% zinc formulations. Although physical particles still inherently scatter light, the white cast from this hybrid formula is drastically subdued compared to classic North American mineral pastes; on Dr. Dray's skin tone, it blends virtually invisibly, manifesting at most as a faint, flattering brightening effect in specific directional lighting.

[17:56](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7x1UCXXw6GU&t=1076s) Celimax Oil Control Light Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++

Continuing her evaluation of the Celimax hybrid sunscreen, Dr. Dray addresses how it looks and behaves across different complexions. On deeper skin tones, the mineral component does leave a visible cast with a somewhat grayish hue; however, she notes it is nowhere near that "frank diaper rash zinc oxide cast" typical of traditional North American physical sunscreens. For anyone who prefers mineral-based protection but wants to tone down the chalkiness, this offers a substantially better middle ground.

Regarding the product's oil-control claims, Dr. Dray emphasizes that the mechanism primarily comes down to silica, alongside supportive botanicals. She clarifies an essential dermatology fact: no topical product actually stops or slows down baseline sebum production. Instead, topicals work by physically absorbing sebum already secreted onto the surface of the skin or by minimizing sebum oxidation, which would otherwise trigger inflammatory cascades. The Celimax sunscreen has a thicker, richer consistency that feels slightly chalkier in comparison to purely chemical sunscreens, leaving behind a pseudo-matte finish. While a matte finish is not Dr. Dray's personal preference, she recommends it for those who specifically seek out shine control without feeling weighed down by a heavy paste.

- **Finish & Feel:** Thicker, slightly chalky, pseudo-matte finish; heavier than fluid chemical sunscreens but not suffocating. - **Sebum Control:** Uses silica for surface absorption and antioxidant botanicals to suppress sebum oxidation. - **White Cast:** Produces a faint grayish tone on deeper skin tones rather than an opaque white mask.

[19:08](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7x1UCXXw6GU&t=1148s) Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Daily Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++

Turning back to what she calls an "oldie but a goodie," Dr. Dray revisits the Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Daily Sunscreen. She admits that she repurchases it constantly—quipping, "Why reinvent the wheel, right?"—which is why it ends up appearing in roughly ninety percent of her sunscreen videos.

```mermaid flowchart TD accTitle: Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Sunscreen Profile accDescr: Visual breakdown of UV filter system, key botanical actives, and cosmetic finish of the Haruharu Wonder sunscreen. subgraph Filters ["Advanced Chemical UV Filters"] F1["Uvinul A Plus"] F2["Uvinul T 150"] F3["Mexoryl SX"] F4["Polysilicone-15"] end subgraph Actives ["Nourishing Botanicals"] A1["Rice Bran Oil"] A2["Lingonberry Extract"] A3["Houttuynia Cordata"] end Filters --> Out["Broad-Spectrum Protection<br/>(Comfortable Wear)"] Actives --> Out Out --> Finish["Rich, Non-Oppressive Cream<br/>Ideal for Dry Skin Types"] ```
The formula combines four advanced modern chemical filters: Uvinul A Plus, Uvinul T 150, Mexoryl SX (Ecamsule), and Polysilicone-15. Together, they provide broad-spectrum UV protection without ever feeling miserable or heavy during application. In terms of texture, it is distinctly richer and far less "hydrogel-esque" than fluid formulas like the Round Lab Birch Juice or SKIN1004 Hyalu-Cica serums. Packed with antioxidant-rich rice bran oil, lingonberry extract, and *Houttuynia cordata*, it delivers soothing hydration that makes it a top pick for normal to dry skin types, whereas extremely oily complexions would likely prefer the more mattifying hybrid Celimax option.
[20:10](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7x1UCXXw6GU&t=1210s) anillO Lime Sunday Refresh Shampoo & Conditioner
Acknowledging that viewers might be surprised to see haircare in a skincare video, Dr. Dray highlights that she washes her hair daily and feels Korean haircare often gets unfairly "slept on." She tests the Lime Sunday Refresh duo from anillO and begins with a warning: these products carry a remarkably potent, long-lasting fragrance. She describes the bright citrus and sandalwood aroma as a "built-in perfume" so intense that anyone sitting next to you will smell your hair hours later. While she intentionally avoids fragrance in leave-on facial skincare, she openly enjoys distinct fragrances in rinse-off haircare. However, she cautions that anyone with known contact fragrance allergies must skip this line entirely.
The shampoo incorporates fine almond peel powder, which delivers subtle, non-abrasive mechanical scalp exfoliation to clear away stubborn product build-up. It also features menthol to create an invigorating, cooling tingle that distracts cutaneous itch nerves—an experience she jokingly refers to as "a little bit of a rush." The matching conditioner surprised her with its unique "buttery gel-cream" consistency, coating individual strands effortlessly before rinsing away cleanly without waxy residue. Loaded with proteins and amino acids, it successfully tames frizz, enhances manageability, and imparts shine, making the set a dependable daily routine for regular use.
- **Scent Profile:** Prominent, perfume-grade citrus and sandalwood notes with serious staying power. - **Shampoo Highlights:** Almond peel powder provides physical scalp polishing; menthol cools and alleviates itchy sensations. - **Conditioner Highlights:** Lightweight buttery gel-cream containing amino acids and proteins; rinses completely clean without buildup.
[22:30](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7x1UCXXw6GU&t=1350s) Lador Moisture Balancing Shampoo & Damage Protector Acid Conditioner
Next, Dr. Dray explores two offerings from the widely recognized Korean brand Lador: the Moisture Balancing Shampoo and the Damage Protector Acid Conditioner. Both share a sophisticated, subtle floral scent that lingers softly the next day without being anywhere near as overpowering as the anillO line.
The shampoo’s key standout active is piroctone olamine, an antifungal agent that targets *Malassezia* yeast to keep dandruff and scalp itchiness under control. Dr. Dray explains that while piroctone olamine is not an FDA-approved active ingredient in the United States (unlike zinc pyrithione or selenium sulfide), it serves as a common over-the-counter anti-dandruff staple across Europe and Asia and works wonderfully as an off-label maintenance wash between flare-ups. Because the shampoo is exceedingly rich and moisturizing, Dr. Dray noticed that using it every day left a slightly heavy residue on her fine hair; she recommends it instead for individuals with chemically treated, bleached, or brittle strands.
| Product | Star Ingredients | Texture / Weight | Ideal Candidate | |:--- |:--- |:--- |:--- | | **Lador Moisture Balancing Shampoo** | Piroctone olamine (antifungal) | Rich, highly moisturizing wash | Color-treated, brittle, or dry hair prone to dandruff/itch | | **Lador Damage Protector Acid Conditioner** | Amodimethicone, Dimethicone, Hydrolyzed Silk | Ultra-dense cream (hair mask consistency) | Heat-damaged hair, porous strands, coarse ends needing slip |
She was even more impressed by the Damage Protector Acid Conditioner, which leans on amodimethicone and dimethicone alongside hydrolyzed silk. Addressing the pervasive clean-beauty stigma surrounding silicones, Dr. Dray points out that silicones get an "unfairly" bad rap despite being exceptionally good at smoothing the cuticle, imparting gloss, and reducing mechanical friction. The hydrolyzed silk acts to fill micro-gaps along damaged, heat-compromised hair shafts. She notes that the texture is so remarkably dense that if she were blindfolded, she would easily mistake it for a concentrated hair mask. While it rinses cleanly enough for everyday use on severely compromised hair, she prefers incorporating it into her routine once a week as an intensive conditioning mask.
中文简报
Dr Dray 称赞国外紫外线滤剂可解决防晒霜泛白与刺眼问题 在美国境外获批的先进化学紫外线滤剂使韩国防晒霜能够提供光稳定的广谱防护,同时避免了美国本土配方常见的泛白、眼部刺痛或厚重油腻感。 Dr. Dray 评估了一系列精选的热门韩系护肤与护发产品,深入分析了它们的成分构成、肤感质地及临床价值。她测评了 Round Lab 维护屏障的洁面乳和轻盈爽肤水,解释了如何叠涂 SKIN1004 富含积雪草和多肽的安瓶、牛奶水及屏障霜,并对比了化学防晒、混合防晒与哑光防晒中采用的先进紫外线滤剂技术。此外,本次概述还延伸至韩系护发领域,评估了 anillO 和 Lador 的去角质与去屑配方,以针对特定的皮肤屏障和发质为观众提供参考指导。 现代韩国防晒霜采用 Uvinul A Plus、Uvinul T 150 和 Tinosorb M 等先进的光稳定紫外线滤剂,能提供高倍广谱防护,同时消除了传统老旧滤剂常见的泛白、厚重及刺眼问题。 (6:05) 外用护肤品无法从生理机制上减少皮脂生成;控油配方转而依赖二氧化硅等成分吸附表层皮脂,并利用抗氧化剂防止皮脂氧化。 (17:56) 俗称“瓶装肉毒素”的外用胜肽(如 Argireline)无法像注射针剂那样到达神经肌肉接点,主要通过强效的表层补水来提供表浅的平滑效果。 (12:23) 吡罗克酮乙醇胺盐(Piroctone olamine)作为一种对抗马拉色菌的有效非处方抗真菌成分,广泛应用于亚洲和欧洲的洗护发产品中,以应对头屑和头皮发痒问题。 (22:30)
Reading summary
Dermatologist Dr. Dray highlights selected Korean skincare and haircare products, arguing that their primary strengths lie in skin-barrier preservation, gentle hydration, and cosmetically elegant UV filters. She evaluates these formulations by contrasting their functional, physiological mechanisms against common cosmetic marketing claims. Non-Stripping Cleansing and Hydration-Driven Exfoliation (1:10) Dr. Dray emphasizes that cleansing must lift sebum and debris without stripping the stratum corneum, challenging the misconception that dense foam signifies superior cleansing efficacy. The Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Cleanser integrates ceramide NP, three forms of hyaluronic acid, panthenol, and allantoin to support lipids while cleansing. For reactive skin, the Round Lab Birch Juice Moisturizing Cleanser operates at an acid-mantle-friendly pH of 5.0 to 6.0, using birch sap to supply amino acids and sugars that mimic natural moisturizing factors alongside anti-inflammatory Artemisia extract. For post-cleanse priming, Dr. Dray points to the Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Toner as an alternative to harsh chemical exfoliants. Rather than using acids like glycolic acid, the fluid relies on red algae polysaccharides and sugarcane extract to deeply saturate the outer skin. This profound hydration loosens bonds between corneocytes to facilitate natural desquamation, making it suitable for skin peeling from retinoids or compromised barriers. Layered Hydration and Nuanced Peptide Claims (8:48) Sequential layering of lightweight fluids allows targeted active delivery without heavy occlusives. The SKIN1004 Hyalu-Cica range utilizes centella triterpenes—such as madecassoside and asiaticoside—alongside polyglutamic acid, which forms a surface film to limit transepidermal water loss. In the Glass Skin Milk and Firming Cream, the osmolyte ectoin mitigates oxidative stress and stabilizes moisture levels, which Dr. Dray credits with restoring her own barrier following an acute reaction to an external product. Dr. Dray qualifies cosmetic marketing claims regarding anti-aging peptides. While the Firming Cream contains acetyl hexapeptide-8 (Argireline), often branded as topical Botox, she clarifies that topical peptides cannot penetrate to the neuromuscular junction like clinical injectables, functioning instead by improving surface hydration to soften expression lines. Similarly, she notes that while the Celimax Dual Barrier Creamy Toner features Aquatide to stimulate autophagy and SIRT1 pathways for lipid production, these cellular findings remain emerging and lack robust independent clinical trials. Superior UV Filters and Sebum Control (6:05) Modern Korean sunscreens utilize advanced, photostable broad-spectrum chemical filters that are not approved in the United States, including Uvinul A Plus, Uvinul T 150, Tinosorb M, and Mexoryl SX. Formulations such as the Round Lab Birch Juice Sun Cream, SKIN1004 Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum, and Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Sunscreen apply like standard moisturizers, avoiding the white cast, greasy finish, or orbital eye stinging common in older North American filter formulations. Addressing mineral sunscreens, Dr. Dray reviews the Celimax Oil Control Light Sunscreen, a hybrid combining zinc oxide and titanium dioxide with chemical filters to avoid the extreme pastiness of pure physical blocks, though it leaves a faint grayish tint on darker complexions. Addressing its oil-control claims, she clarifies that no topical product reduces baseline sebum production; instead, the formula uses silica to absorb already-secreted surface oil, paired with botanicals that minimize sebum oxidation to prevent inflammatory pathways. Scalp Maintenance and Restorative Hair Formulations (20:10) Dr. Dray extends barrier and cleansing principles to Korean haircare. The anillO Lime Sunday Refresh system uses menthol to soothe itchy scalp sensations and fine almond peel powder for non-abrasive physical exfoliation. However, she cautions that its potent, lingering fragrance makes it unsuitable for individuals with contact fragrance allergies. For scalp conditions, the Lador Moisture Balancing Shampoo incorporates piroctone olamine, an antifungal agent that suppresses Malassezia yeast. Although not an FDA-approved drug active in the United States, it is widely utilized across Europe and Asia for managing flaking and itchiness. Addressing hair shaft conditioning, Dr. Dray defends the inclusion of amodimethicone and dimethicone in the Lador Damage Protector Acid Conditioner, explaining that silicones counteract mechanical friction and smooth the hair cuticle alongside hydrolyzed silk, contrary to clean-beauty narratives. Dr. Dray concludes that while Korean formulations offer significant cosmetic and barrier-support advantages through advanced UV filters and gentle humectants, consumers should maintain realistic expectations: topical peptides cannot replace clinical procedures, and shine-control products absorb surface oil rather than altering baseline sebum production.
For a [1:00] limited time, the details of the savings [1:02] will all be listed in the description [1:04] box. Make sure you use my code at [1:06] checkout. But without further ado, let's [1:09] get into the review. I'm going to start [1:10] with cleansers cuz as you guys know, [1:12] cleansing is pretty much an essential [1:14] part of a skin care routine. You should [1:15] do it at least once a day to remove [1:17] dirt, oil, sebum, cosmetic residue, and [1:19] aeroallergens from the surface of the [1:21] skin. This is the Round Lab 1025 Dokdo [1:23] Cleanser and I really enjoyed using this [1:26] one. It's one of those cleansers that [1:27] produces a dense creamy foam. It feels [1:29] really luxurious, but doesn't leave your [1:31] skin with that stripped squeaky feeling [1:33] of an impaired barrier. Sometimes people [1:35] are under the assumption that the more [1:36] foam a cleanser produces, the more [1:38] intense or the more thorough it is and [1:40] that's simply not true. Foam is really [1:43] more about the experience and doesn't [1:44] necessarily speak to a functional [1:46] quality of the cleanser per se. What [1:48] matters most is the overall formulation. [1:50] And one of the things I really like [1:51] about this particular cleanser is that [1:52] it contains several ingredients aimed at [1:54] supporting the needs of the skin barrier [1:56] while simultaneously cleansing your [1:57] skin. For example, it contains three [1:59] forms of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic [2:01] acid is a humectant and helps with [2:03] retaining water. The outermost layers of [2:05] the skin where water content is vital [2:07] for the operational processes of [2:09] maintaining barrier integrity. And [2:11] another ingredient I like seeing [2:13] ceramide NP. Ceramides are lipids [2:15] naturally found in your skin barrier and [2:17] including them in your skin care [2:18] routine, whether it be in a cleanser or [2:20] a leave-on product, can help with [2:21] getting the barrier back on track and [2:23] improving your skin's natural production [2:25] of its own protective ceramides. And it [2:27] contains panthenol and allantoin. These [2:28] are moisturizing and soothing [2:30] ingredients. It lathers beautifully, [2:32] does an excellent job removing dirt, [2:33] oil, cosmetic residue, and all allergens [2:35] from the surface of the skin, and then [2:37] rinses away efficiently, not leaving [2:39] behind any residue, nor does it leave [2:41] the skin feeling dry or irritated. And [2:43] then the second cleanser I've been using [2:44] this summer is also from Round Lab. This [2:46] one's a little bit different. It's the [2:48] birch juice moisturizing cleanser. And [2:50] this one might actually be my favorite [2:52] of the two. It has a lower pH of around [2:54] 5 to 6, which is perfect for supporting [2:56] the needs of the acid mantle. In [2:58] general, lower pH cleansers tend to be a [3:00] little bit gentler. Like the other [3:02] cleanser, it definitely does not leave [3:04] your skin feeling stripped or squeaky [3:06] clean. And of course, the star [3:07] ingredient in this particular line is [3:09] birch sap. Well, it actually contains [3:10] amino acids and minerals, as well as [3:13] antioxidants, vitamins, and a variety of [3:15] naturally occurring sugars. These [3:16] function primarily as humectants, [3:18] helping with your skin's ability to [3:20] retain moisture with cleansing. And this [3:22] contains natural moisturizing factors, [3:24] which as the name implies are naturally [3:26] found in skin's outermost layer and [3:27] vital in retaining moisture. These are [3:29] things that already exist in your [3:30] stratum corneum, the outermost [3:31] protective layer of the skin. Then [3:33] another nice ingredient in this is [3:34] artemisia extract. Artemisia, if you're [3:37] not familiar, it has soothing [3:38] properties. It's anti-inflammatory. So, [3:40] if you have sensitive or [3:42] irritation-prone skin, this is a perfect [3:44] ingredient to consider pursuing in your [3:46] skin care routine. And over the years, I [3:48] have used, tried, and reviewed numerous [3:50] products with this ingredient, and I [3:52] really enjoy incorporating it in my [3:53] routine. It's fantastic. In contrast to [3:56] the other cleanser, this one is clear [3:58] and colorless. So, a little bit of a [4:00] different experience. The birch cleanser [4:02] feels a bit more hydrating, whereas the [4:03] Docto cleanser is more of a richer [4:05] luxurious texture. But, at the end of [4:07] the day, they achieve the same outcome, [4:09] gentle effective cleansing while leaving [4:11] behind hydrating, soothing, and [4:12] moisturizing ingredients for optimal [4:14] cleansing and maintenance of the barrier [4:17] integrity. After cleansing, I frequently [4:19] find myself reaching for a liquid toner [4:21] or essence. Really just to prep my skin [4:24] for my skin care routine. This is not [4:26] necessary, but it's something I have [4:28] come to enjoy using. And many of these [4:30] types of products contain soothing [4:31] anti-inflammatory ingredients that [4:33] really help overall with symptoms like [4:35] sensitivity, redness, and irritation. [4:37] Plus, they may deliver some antioxidants [4:39] that they're great to have on board [4:40] before you go out throughout the day and [4:42] are exposed to all of the environmental [4:44] aggressors out there. So, the Round Lab [4:46] Docto 1025 toner is one I've actually [4:48] had my eye on when shopping around for [4:50] Korean skin care out and about. And this [4:52] one is a water-based toner. It does not [4:55] feel the least bit tacky, sticky, and [4:57] there's no viscosity to this whatsoever, [4:59] making it the perfect texture as the [5:01] first step in your skin care routine [5:04] immediately following cleansing and [5:06] rinsing the skin. Now, one thing that [5:07] distinguishes this is not just a bottle [5:09] of water. You might think that when [5:11] using it. And it's not simply hydrating, [5:14] but rather it also provides a little bit [5:16] of ever so gentle exfoliation. There [5:19] isn't anything like glycolic acid in [5:21] this, but rather through the [5:22] moisture-retaining properties, it helps [5:24] to loosen dead skin cells from the [5:25] surface and gently allow for more [5:28] efficient shedding of the outermost [5:29] layer. In other words, if your skin is [5:31] irritated and flaky from, say, using a [5:33] topical retinoid or overdoing it in your [5:35] skin care routine, this is the perfect [5:37] product for gently soothing the skin. It [5:40] contains red algae, which is not only [5:42] hydrating, but loaded with antioxidants [5:44] to defend against oxidative stressors. [5:46] polysaccharides within this are [5:49] wonderful for hydration. There's also [5:51] sugarcane extract that offers additional [5:53] moisturizing properties. So, most days [5:55] I'll simply pour a little bit of this [5:57] into my palm and pat it into the skin [5:59] after cleansing. I like to use it [6:00] morning and sometimes immediately after [6:02] getting out of the shower to damp [6:04] freshly cleansed skin as well. All [6:05] right, let's move on to one of my [6:07] all-time favorite categories and why I [6:10] love Korean skin care so much is that [6:12] they really really nail it when it comes [6:14] to sunscreens for daily use that are not [6:16] only moisturizing, cosmetically elegant, [6:19] hydrating, lightweight, and they're the [6:20] kind of sunscreens that are a no-brainer [6:23] to use. You don't even realize you're [6:24] using sunscreens, they're that [6:26] comfortable to apply, no burning or [6:27] stinging. So, this is not new to me. [6:29] It's the Round Lab Birch Juice [6:31] Moisturizing Sun Cream SPF 50 PA of 4 [6:34] plus. Now, this is one I've probably [6:36] recommended in numerous videos over the [6:38] years time after time and it's one I've [6:41] repurchased numerous times. It's it's [6:43] really performs quite well. And what I [6:45] like about this is the texture. There's [6:48] no greasy feel to it. It doesn't take a [6:50] lot of effort to get a good layer on the [6:52] skin. Then, once it dries down, if you [6:54] want to put makeup on over it, no [6:56] worries, it's not going to cause your [6:58] makeup to peel up or anything of that [7:00] sort. And it does not burn on the face [7:03] when you apply it, nor does it sting [7:05] around the eyes. It's just like you're [7:07] applying a moisturizer. It feels great [7:09] on the neck. There's absolutely no white [7:11] cast. It is a chemical sunscreen. It has [7:14] the birch like the other products in [7:16] that line. It has hyaluronic acid and [7:18] sodium hyaluronate as well as [7:20] niacinamide. Okay, so niacinamide is a B [7:23] vitamin widely available in a variety of [7:25] skin care products including those we're [7:27] reviewing today. It's great for reducing [7:29] oxidative stress, helping your skin to [7:31] handle the damaging effects of [7:33] environmental aggressors including UV [7:35] and pollution. It's also really helpful [7:37] if you're prone to hyperpigmentation. [7:39] Many people who have oily acne-prone [7:41] skin really find that a lot of their [7:43] issues around the excess sebum and [7:45] oxidation of sebum tend to calm down a [7:48] bit when they use niacinamide. As far as [7:50] a sunscreen now, that's really where I [7:52] think you guys will be most impressed [7:54] with these sunscreens in general that [7:56] I'm reviewing and it comes down to the [7:57] filters that they use. These are filters [8:00] you can only get outside of the US in [8:03] non-American sunscreens and so that's [8:05] why shopping on Stylevana I highly [8:07] recommend because it is a reputable [8:09] distributor of these and so you don't [8:11] have to worry about getting a [8:12] counterfeit or anything when you're [8:13] trying to get sunscreens with those [8:15] signature awesome ingredients that [8:18] aren't available for use here. So it is [8:19] Uvinul A Plus, Uvinul T 150 and Tinosorb [8:22] M. These filters provide excellent broad [8:24] spectrum protection. They're photostable [8:27] and because there are multiple [8:29] ingredients here that are a lot more [8:31] elegant in general, it allows the [8:33] formulators to really create something [8:35] that is pleasant to use and overcomes [8:37] many of those hurdles that people [8:39] encounter with sunscreens in the US [8:41] market. Um so if your skin is dry, if [8:43] it's oily, if it's combination, whatever [8:45] the category, I think this is a [8:46] fantastic one for you. I highly highly [8:48] recommend it. Some products from another [8:50] Korean brand I really love, Skin 1004, [8:53] the Hylu Cica line. So let's talk about [8:56] the plumping ampoule. This whole Cica [8:58] line, Cica is essentially the [9:01] formulation of ingredients from Centella [9:03] which includes here madecassoside, [9:07] asiaticoside, madecassic acid and [9:09] asiatic acid. These compounds offer [9:12] anti-inflammatory benefits, they're [9:14] soothing and they may help with wound [9:16] healing as well. Now, what I like about [9:18] this ampoule in particular is that it [9:20] contains polyglutamic acid which is [9:22] super hydrating but also creates this [9:25] lightweight film on the skin to help [9:26] facilitate a reduction in transepidermal [9:28] water loss. Along with ceramides, those [9:31] lipids that are really important for the [9:33] skin barrier and of course niacinamide, [9:35] soothing, anti-inflammatory, good for [9:37] dark spots and redness. This has a [9:38] variety of peptides, copper tripeptide, [9:41] multiple hexapeptides, which can help [9:43] with moisture retention and may to a [9:45] certain extent, albeit more data is are [9:47] needed. Um they may to a certain extent [9:50] help to facilitate better collagen and [9:52] elastin production, ultimately improving [9:54] skin firmness, plumpness, and [9:57] diminishing the appearance of little [9:58] fine lines and surface irregularities. [10:00] Plus, this packs another interesting [10:02] topical antioxidant, glutathione, which [10:05] shows promise for potentially improving [10:07] hyperpigmentation. It almost cloaks your [10:10] face. You don't need very much. This is [10:11] one you apply after cleansing. Now, if [10:13] you're using a water-based toner like [10:16] the Docto toner, you're going to apply [10:18] that first cuz this has, in contrast to [10:20] that, this has a little bit of substance [10:22] to it. It's still super, super [10:23] lightweight, thin, watery in texture, [10:25] but there's a little bit of grip to it. [10:27] So, ideally, you're going to layer that [10:28] on over a frank water-based fluid. And [10:31] then, you're free to allow it to absorb. [10:33] You can put creams on top of it, other [10:35] thicker, richer products, and then your [10:37] sunscreen. You can use it morning and [10:39] you can use it at nighttime as well as [10:41] tolerated. This line also, speaking of [10:44] toners, they they have one, but it's a [10:46] little different than the Docto toner. [10:49] They have a Hyalutika [10:52] Glass Skin Milk. So, this is a milky [10:55] toner. And y'all know I have really [10:57] enjoyed these. They differ from the [10:58] water-based toners in that they're more [11:00] of an emulsion. They have more of an [11:02] oily component. They're like a super, [11:04] super thin, lightweight lotion, almost. [11:07] I've had great experiences with these. [11:10] They're fantastic for people who have [11:12] dry, oily, combination skin and are [11:15] really looking to moisturize without [11:17] having like a heavy cream on the skin. [11:19] They're looking to moisturize in a [11:21] layered fashion. So, they want something [11:23] that's easy to incorporate, say, in the [11:25] morning routine or with topicals at [11:27] nighttime that may be addressing [11:28] specific concerns. It's got ectoin. [11:31] Ectoin is an extremophile that helps [11:33] your skin in fighting off oxidative [11:35] stress and it really offers this almost [11:38] soothing and plumping effect immediately [11:40] through the hydration. Plus, polyhydroxy [11:42] acid, hydrating and very, very gently [11:45] exfoliating. The most sensitive of [11:47] sensitive skin can use. Interestingly, [11:49] the peptide in this is a nonapeptide [11:52] one, which shows promise for [11:54] hyperpigmentation. And then it also has [11:57] palmitoyl pentapeptide four, which is [11:59] more well-known as a signaling peptide, [12:02] perhaps having some influence on [12:03] collagen. Although, as you guys know, I [12:05] tend to look to to these more for better [12:07] moisture retention if anything. This [12:10] layers beautifully actually over the [12:12] ampoule because it is a bit more [12:14] emollient and thicker in texture. It's a [12:16] bit of a almost getting into the lotion [12:19] category super lightweight moisturizer. [12:21] So, it is heavier than the ampoule. I [12:23] would layer it on over it. Speaking of [12:25] heavier textures though, firming cream [12:28] in this line was amazing. I'm still [12:31] making my way through that. And [12:32] actually, I went through a bout actually [12:34] of really dry skin for a couple of days [12:37] when I was testing out another [12:39] non-Korean skin care product recently [12:41] that really just did not get along with [12:43] me, which is rare. I tend to have like a [12:45] stratum corneum of steel cuz I try out [12:48] many things. But this particular product [12:50] did not work out well for me. So, I [12:52] paused it and I used the milk the milky [12:56] toner in this line plus the firming this [12:58] firming cream layered on over and within [13:00] a couple it was peace on facial earth. [13:04] This particular cream, I said rich, but [13:06] don't think heavy at all. It's very, [13:08] very sophisticated and elegant in [13:10] texture. It's not like a greasy oily [13:12] mess on your face. It's got the teca, of [13:14] course, which again, the centella bag of [13:17] tricks, ceramides, sodium hyaluronate [13:20] and ectoin again. And then this has a [13:22] little bit of a different peptide blend. [13:24] It's got of course a subtle hexapeptide [13:26] eight, which you guys know as [13:27] Argireline, the quote-unquote Botox in a [13:30] bottle. Again, largely acting as a [13:32] humectant, probably, but you'll often [13:35] see it marketed that way. It's kind of [13:36] an exaggeration, frankly. It's not as [13:38] though it gets to the level of a [13:39] neuromuscular junction like a true [13:41] neuromodulator, but it has shown [13:43] promise, albeit in industry studies, for [13:45] diminishing like crow's feet, for [13:47] example. Even though this is a richer, [13:49] almost barrier cream texture, it was [13:52] lightweight enough to use in the summer [13:54] in the heat and the humidity and not [13:56] feel like, "Oh, I cannot breathe under [13:59] this." So, really good if you live in a [14:00] hot, tropical climate and you're dealing [14:02] with an impaired barrier and you need [14:03] something richer, more nourishing in [14:05] texture, I would highly recommend this. [14:07] It's been a fantastic. And then, last [14:10] but not least is the sunscreen in this [14:12] line, which is not new to me. I've [14:13] reviewed it in several videos before. [14:15] It's like a frequent repurchase. And [14:18] this one is honestly very similar to the [14:21] Round Lab one, only with some different [14:24] ingredients. It's got the Centella [14:25] asiatica. And it also combines it, of [14:28] course, the Hyalu-Cica part of the name [14:30] with hyaluronic acid to provide that [14:32] additional hydration. Niacinamide, rice [14:35] extract also offers some additional [14:37] moisturizing properties. Let's highlight [14:40] why it is that we are going to these [14:42] Korean sunscreens. Of course, it's their [14:44] excellent formulation, the cosmetic [14:45] elegance, cuz we want access to those UV [14:48] filters that we don't have here in the [14:49] USA. So, you've got Uvinul T 150 for B- [14:52] UVB protection, plus you have Uvinul [14:55] which is a fun fantastic UVA protector, [14:58] Tinosorb M, and diethylhexyl [15:01] butamido triazone, um another very [15:04] highly stable UVB filter. I mean, [15:06] together these really provide excellent [15:08] broad-spectrum coverage. It's so [15:10] hydrating, it doesn't sting, it doesn't [15:11] burn. You can put it all around your [15:13] eyes and it's not going to irritate them [15:15] in the least, zero white cast. And you [15:18] just think you're using a nice [15:19] lightweight daily moisturizer, and it [15:21] really does offer an excellent um [15:23] moisturizing effect and that it will cut [15:26] down on dryness and irritation, but it's [15:28] not going to feel heavy on your face. [15:29] You can go throughout your day and be [15:30] perfectly happy. Let's move on though to [15:32] Cellmax because y'all know how much I [15:34] love their milky toners. What I like [15:37] about the Cellmax dual barrier creamy [15:39] toner in particular is not only the [15:41] texture like it's it's very luxurious. [15:43] Of course, ceramides which we already [15:45] talked about how wonderful they are and [15:47] very helpful actually for aging mature [15:50] skin because levels start to decline a [15:52] bit with age and can also lead to more [15:55] dryness. The jazzy thing about this in [15:57] addition to all that barrier supporting [15:59] stuff is it has aquatide, a synthetic [16:01] peptide that shows promise for its [16:03] ability to stimulate autophagy. This [16:06] mechanism of renewal to activate certain [16:09] one which is sometimes referred to as [16:11] the longevity associated protein. It's [16:13] thought to encourage skin cells to [16:16] produce more barrier supporting lipids. [16:18] Much of this research on these types is [16:21] still emerging. Laboratory findings [16:22] don't necessarily equate any kind of [16:24] dramatic thing in the skin. If you're [16:25] looking for a good milky toner, [16:27] honestly, you'd be well served by either [16:29] this one or the skin 1004 one. I'm just [16:31] noting some of the differences there as [16:33] far as the ingredients that you might be [16:36] interested in. Now, speaking of Cellmax, [16:38] I did want to try one of their [16:39] sunscreens, the oil control light [16:42] sunscreen SPF 50 because I get a lot of [16:44] questions. Please recommend a sunscreen [16:46] with zinc oxide from Korea. And so this [16:48] is actually a hybrid sunscreen which I [16:50] find in general tends to be more common [16:52] in the Korean skin care market. I don't [16:55] often come across, I mean I'm sure they [16:57] exist, but I don't routinely come across [17:00] a purely mineral sunscreen from Korea. [17:02] Meaning the vast majority of them are [17:04] hybrid meaning they have zinc, but they [17:06] also have some chemical filters. And [17:08] this one's got zinc. It also has [17:09] titanium dioxide. It has Juvenal A plus, [17:12] Tinosorb S, and heth ethyl hexyl [17:15] triazone. When you have a hybrid [17:17] sunscreen, I always tell people it's [17:18] sort of like the best of both worlds. If [17:20] you're sensitive to chemical sunscreen [17:22] ingredients, these are less likely to do [17:24] the burning and stinging thing. It's not [17:26] a complete guarantee, but it's a lot [17:28] less likely. Then they've gotten the [17:29] zinc, they've got the titanium dioxide, [17:31] the the mineral actives, if you will. [17:33] And a downside of those is that they can [17:35] be very chalky, very pasty, very thick. [17:37] Plus, they leave a white cast. Now, the [17:39] hybrid sunscreens will still leave a [17:41] white cast, but it is significantly, [17:43] significantly less noticeable on the [17:45] skin. On my skin tone, I can get away [17:47] with wearing a hybrid sunscreen, and [17:49] unless I'm in certain lighting, no one [17:52] knows. And in certain lighting, it may [17:54] it appears that the skin has a subtle [17:56] grayish hue to it. But if you have a [17:57] deeper skin tone, you will see that [18:00] cast, but it's not going to be like that [18:02] frank diaper rash zinc oxide cast that a [18:05] lot of mineral sunscreens offer. So, [18:07] that might be something more pleasing to [18:09] you who want a mineral sunscreen, but [18:12] you don't, you know, you want to cut [18:13] down on that cast. The oil control thing [18:15] here really boils down to the inclusion [18:17] of silica. Also contains some botanicals [18:20] as well, which may help with cutting [18:23] down on the oxidation of sebum. Won't [18:25] slow down or stop sebum production. [18:27] Okay, really no topical does that. [18:29] Topicals either absorb excess sebum [18:31] that's already been put put out on the [18:33] skin, or they cut down on like the [18:35] oxidation of it that would create a lot [18:36] of inflammation. And these ingredients [18:38] do just that. This is a thicker, richer [18:41] formula, and a bit chalkier, and it does [18:45] offer that pseudo matte finish that a [18:48] lot of people really love. Not [18:49] necessarily my preference, but if that's [18:52] something that you're going for, I would [18:53] say I would suggest this one because [18:55] overall it is pretty good. It's not [18:57] super heavy. It's just heavier than the [18:59] other ones. So, I wanted to try that out [19:02] for you guys, show you what it looks [19:03] like here. It's a pretty good option for [19:05] those of you who like these more matte [19:07] finish type sunscreens. Course, coming [19:09] back to a oldie but a goodie, I I [19:11] repurchase a lot of my favorite [19:13] sunscreen. Why reinvent the wheel, [19:15] right? So, I went back of course to the [19:17] Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airy [19:20] Fit Daily Sunscreen and this is one I I [19:22] mean I I think it comes up in like 90% [19:25] of these videos cuz I just love it so [19:27] much. Evenol A Plus, Evenol T150, [19:29] Mexoryl SX, and Polysilicone 15. So, all [19:32] these together, you know, you're getting [19:34] broad spectrum UV protection that does [19:36] not feel miserable to put on the skin. [19:38] This is a richer texture. If you're [19:40] someone who tends to have drier skin, [19:42] you want something a little richer but [19:44] still not oppressive or heavy. This one [19:46] is great. It's It's less hydrogel-esque, [19:49] if you will, in the formulation compared [19:51] to the Round Lab and Skin 1004 formulas [19:54] we talked about earlier in the video. [19:55] This has lingonberry extract, rice bran [19:58] oil, and Houttuynia cordata, all of [20:01] which offer soothing and antioxidant [20:03] properties. So, if your skin tends to be [20:05] dry, I would suggest this one. If you [20:07] tend to be a really oily, I would [20:09] suggest that hybrid one cuz it is more [20:11] mattifying. Last but not least, I know I [20:13] said this was skin care, but you guys [20:14] know I wash my hair every day and so I [20:16] love trying out shampoos. Korean hair [20:18] care kind of gets slept on. So, there's [20:21] this line which I've heard good things [20:23] about and I needed to try. A Nillo. So, [20:25] I tried their Lime Sunday Refresh [20:28] Shampoo and the Lime Sunday Refresh [20:30] Conditioner. Oh my goodness. These are [20:33] strong scents. They actively scent your [20:36] hair and it's a prolonged, long-lasting, [20:38] fairly strong scent. Like someone who [20:41] comes and sits next to you will be [20:43] smelling your hair and it's a really [20:44] nice scent. So, it's almost like [20:47] built-in perfume. But, if you're [20:48] allergic to fragrance, this, as well as [20:51] the other shampoos and conditioners I'm [20:52] going to mention that I tried, they're [20:54] off the table. If you're new here, [20:55] you're like, "I thought you tried to [20:56] avoid fragrance in skin care." Uh yeah, [20:59] but hair care I go out of my way to have [21:01] a nice scent and I really actually love [21:03] the bright citrus/sandalwood [21:05] aroma of these. One thing that's [21:07] interesting about the shampoo, it's got [21:09] this almond peel powder offer a little [21:11] bit of gentle scalp mechanical [21:14] exfoliation. So, this is a good one if [21:16] you have a lot of build-up on your scalp [21:18] and you want a little bit of gentle [21:19] mechanical exfoliation without being [21:21] super abrasive. Now, the shampoo has [21:24] menthol which offers a tingling cooling [21:27] sensation can be great, but if you're [21:28] allergic to menthol, you would have to [21:30] avoid this. It tends to be making [21:32] appearance actually in a lot of shampoos [21:35] especially those aimed at an itchy scalp [21:37] cuz it does help with itch. It helps [21:39] with the itch by distracting the little [21:40] itch nerves. I mean, it does give you [21:42] that tingly scalp feel that a lot of [21:45] people myself included kind of enjoy, [21:47] okay? It's a little bit of a rush. Now, [21:49] the conditioner is really great because [21:51] it's got this gel cream texture. I never [21:54] used a conditioner like this before. [21:55] It's kind of buttery. It really does a [21:57] good job coating each strand, but then [22:00] it rinses off very efficiently so it [22:02] doesn't leave behind a heavy residue or [22:04] anything of that sort. a variety of [22:05] proteins and amino acids which do a good [22:07] job cutting down on frizz and helping to [22:09] impart better manageability which really [22:11] is just the main goal of conditioners is [22:14] to cut down on frizz, improve [22:16] manageability, impart gloss, shine, [22:18] smoothness. So, this is a fantastic [22:21] pairing. I would definitely repurchase [22:23] these. I really like them. They don't [22:25] leave any kind of residue on my hair so [22:27] I can use them every single day as my [22:29] daily shampoo and conditioner. Now, on [22:31] the other hand, I also tried out some [22:33] products from this very popular Lador [22:36] brand moisturizing balancing shampoo. I [22:39] also tried the damage protector acid [22:41] conditioner. Now, the shampoo and the [22:43] conditioner, they both have fragrance [22:45] not as heavy as the Anillo ones, not as [22:48] like, "Wow, you are scented now." But, [22:50] they do impart a lasting fragrance [22:53] that's subtle to the hair the following [22:56] day. It's more of a floral aroma, very [22:59] sophisticated, very pleasant, rather [23:01] enjoyed it. But, this shampoo contains [23:03] piroctone olamine, which is an [23:05] anti-fungal that helps to cut down on [23:07] Malassezia. So, this is a great [23:09] ingredient if you're prone to dandruff. [23:11] It's not an FDA-approved dandruff [23:13] active, so it doesn't have as much data [23:15] behind it as like zinc pyrithione or [23:17] selenium sulfide, but it's a good [23:19] ingredient to have sort of as [23:20] maintenance, especially in between [23:22] flare-ups. In In other countries where [23:24] they don't allow for zinc pyrithione [23:26] over the counter, they tend to offer [23:28] piroctone olamine as an alternative [23:31] that's over the counter there. So, [23:32] that's what a lot of people outside of [23:33] the US end up using to control their [23:36] dandruff. Plus, it's great for cutting [23:38] down on scalp itch as well. Really like [23:40] this product as a shampoo. It's a very, [23:43] very rich though. I found I could not [23:45] use it as a daily shampoo without [23:47] getting a little bit of weighty residue [23:49] to my hair. If you have very damaged, [23:51] brittle hair, you might prefer it. If [23:53] you color treat your hair, this might be [23:55] a better option for you. Speaking of [23:57] damaged hair, I also really ended up [23:59] liking even more though, the [24:01] conditioner. That actually worked out a [24:02] lot better for me than their shampoo. [24:04] It's got a amodimethicone, [24:06] dimethicone. These are silicones, which [24:09] help to cut down on brittleness and coat [24:11] the hair and impart a glossiness and [24:13] smoothness and help improve [24:15] manageability. They get a bad rap, [24:17] unfairly so, in hair care products, but [24:19] they're really, really good for your [24:21] hair. It's got hydrolyzed silk, which [24:23] kind of helps fill in little gaps that [24:24] might have developed on the hair [24:26] strands. So, ultimately that cuts down [24:27] on brittleness and improves [24:28] manageability, especially if you have [24:30] like a lot of heat damage or damage from [24:32] color treatments, et cetera. What I [24:34] liked about this is just how thick and [24:36] rich it is. Like, if I were just [24:37] blindfolded and put this in my palm, I [24:39] would call it a hair mask. It could bill [24:42] itself as a hair mask. The main [24:43] difference, honestly, in my experience [24:45] between conditioners and hair masks [24:46] really boils down to texture. And this [24:48] leans more towards that thick, rich, [24:50] total strand-encompassing hair mask [24:52] texture. It's something I could use [24:54] every day cuz it rinsed out well without [24:56] leaving a residue, but did find that as [24:58] I worked this into my hair care routine, [25:00] I ended up using it like as a [25:02] once-a-week hair mask and fantastic. [25:04] Final thoughts overall, not a bad [25:06] product here. Let me know in the [25:08] comments, have you had your eye on any [25:10] of these?
