埃隆·马斯克明确宣告:“Uh but uh this will actually be long-term the only uh manually driven car that Tesla makes.” 既然这是特斯拉未来唯一的纯人工驾驶跑车,工程团队的目标就是将其推向物理极限,甚至彻底打破极限。
倒计时结束后,演示车辆完成了一段令人瞠目结舌的动态展示。马斯克引用好友彼得·蒂尔(Peter Thiel)的名言打趣道:“Well, you know, a friend of mine, Peter Thiel, once said that the future promised us flying cars, but instead we got 140 characters. Well, not anymore.”
拉尔斯用极为生动的俗语形容这套地面风扇的强大抽吸力:“This car could suck the chrome off a trailer hitch.”

[15:55](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XN6cAEgdW5c&t=955s) Breaking the One-Second Barrier: 0–60 mph in 0.81 Seconds
The presentation shifts to straight-line acceleration as the co-host asks Elon Musk what benchmark target he originally wanted for the Roadster's 0 to 60 mph sprint. Musk responds matter-of-factly that it simply had to shatter the single-second barrier: “Well, you got to break 1 second. Obviously.” When the host recalls Musk merely saying one second, Musk corrects him with a grin, clarifying that he specifically demanded *less* than one second. To prove the claim live, they call out to the crew staging the prototype on the testing pad outside, instructing them to set the vehicle to its maximum performance mode and launch it to see if it can officially dip under one second.
While awaiting the telemetry data from the pad run, the host explains the engineering behind the spectacle. The vehicle utilizes cold gas thrusters developed in collaboration with SpaceX technology; four thrusters mounted at the rear expel propellant at speeds exceeding the speed of sound, creating visible supersonic shock diamonds (Mach diamonds) in the exhaust plumes and generating more than 80 kilonewtons (kN) of thrust. Musk dryly highlights the novelty of the achievement, remarking: “Yeah, I mean there's the There are cars, and then there's one car that has Mach diamonds.” A momentary telemetry glitch initially displays an impossible time of 0.17 seconds, prompting Musk to joke that pulling that level of acceleration would physically destroy a human occupant.
The corrected live readout flashes on screen at 0.81 seconds, confirming an unprecedented sub-second 0–60 mph run. Musk emphasizes that this prototype run is only a baseline and that the final production vehicle will perform even better. Invoking basic classical mechanics, Musk notes: “I I mean I I always like the Newton's formula F equals MA as A equals F over M.” He explains that as Tesla engineers continue to maximize rocket thrust while shaving curb weight, acceleration will continue to climb, adding: “So, we'll just we'll just ride the limit of don't detach the retina of the human in the car.”

[19:15](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XN6cAEgdW5c&t=1155s) Half-Mile Dominance, Mach 0.5 Targets, and the Snake River Canyon Jump
The host frames the achievement by pointing out that the Roadster is the quickest production car in the world, capable of completing an entire half-mile in the time conventional supercars take to finish a standard quarter-mile drag strip. Moving past acceleration, the conversation turns toward top speed. While the prototype is already rated well past 230 mph, the host asks how much higher Tesla intends to push the vehicle's top-end threshold. Musk pushes the target far beyond conventional automotive territory, stating: “Well, I think you got to go at least uh you got to crack halfway to the speed of sound, I think.” Aiming for at least Mach 0.5, Musk and the host banter about setting up ambitious demonstration stunts.
Musk proposes demonstrating the car's extreme velocity and rocket-assisted lift by revisiting one of the most famous daredevil stunts in American history: Evel Knievel's failed 1974 rocket-powered jump across Idaho's Snake River Canyon. Musk suggests taking the Roadster and giving the canyon jump another shot. Acknowledging that crossing the massive gap will require a massive running start and immense speed, Musk leans into the surreal nature of building a road vehicle with aerospace thrusters, joking: “Where we're going, you don't need tires.”
- **Quarter-to-Half-Mile Pace:** Traverses a half-mile in the time standard supercars cover a quarter-mile.
- **Baseline Top Speed:** Capable of exceeding 230 mph in current trim.
- **Top Speed Target:** Aiming to surpass Mach 0.5 (approximately half the speed of sound).
- **Proposed Stunt Demo:** Attempting to jump the Snake River Canyon, recreating Evel Knievel's historic feat.

[21:01](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XN6cAEgdW5c&t=1261s) Production Timeline and the Final Reveal
The host summarizes the milestone, declaring the Roadster to be simultaneously the world's best flying car and the ultimate driver's car. He then asks Musk the critical question for prospective buyers and reservation holders: when the car will actually reach customer hands. Musk delivers an official timeline for the manufacturing schedule, announcing: “Uh we we we enter production uh in 2028. Actually.”
The revelation draws cheers and gasps from the crowd, with the host reacting in disbelief before asking Musk whether he has any remaining surprises left to show. Musk confirms there is one final item to share, prompting the team to roll into the concluding reveal demonstration as the event transitions into an extended musical sequence.
- **Target Production Year:** Scheduled to enter official production in 2028.
- **Product Classification:** Positioned as both the premier "flying car" and the pinnacle high-performance driver's vehicle.

[15:55] Elon Musk: There are cars, and then there's one car that has Mach diamonds.
Original transcript

[0:08] [music]
[0:21] [music]
[0:30] >> Welcome everybody.
[0:32] >> Everyone, welcome to McGregor.
[0:35] I'm Franz. This is Lars. We hope you
[0:37] enjoyed our little pre-show Raptor
[0:40] static fire over there.
[0:42] >> We are here at SpaceX's
[0:45] rocket test and development center in
[0:47] McGregor, Texas. It's 4,000 acres.
[0:50] Thank you for having us. Thank you for
[0:51] hosting us, SpaceX. Thank you for
[0:53] everyone here. And thank you for
[0:55] everyone watching online.
[1:03] >> We thought we'd just
[1:05] you know we're we're 20 years from when
[1:07] Elon first introduced the Roadster to
[1:10] the world. And it was really a a proof
[1:12] of concept that proved EVs were viable
[1:15] product, fun to drive, could go the
[1:17] distance. They were real cars. And look
[1:20] at how far we've come in those 20 years.
[1:22] >> Yeah, I mean, to be honest, the Roadster
[1:25] is the reason I came to Tesla. And I
[1:27] came here and we had a master plan to
[1:30] build an EV that proved that we could do
[1:33] everything that Franz just said and then
[1:34] make a cheaper EV we that people could
[1:36] afford with Model S. And then we built
[1:38] Model 3 and Model Y. But you know, the
[1:41] last time we had Roadster and SpaceX
[1:43] together, we put Elon's into into orbit.
[1:47] >> And you can see there. And you know,
[1:49] Starman is still out there somewhere.
[1:52] Amazing feat.
[1:58] But I think we should Elon out here to
[1:59] talk more about that. What do you think?
[2:01] >> [cheering]
[2:02] >> Elon, come on out.
[2:03] >> Elon, come on out.
[2:08] >> [music]
[2:13] [music]
[2:18] [music]
[2:24] >> All right, you're going to see some
[2:26] crazy stuff tonight.
[2:29] Like
[2:32] We need an audience to prove that it's
[2:35] not AI or SI.
[2:39] So you guys can tell people you saw it
[2:41] with your eyes.
[2:43] Because what you see with your eyes you
[2:44] will not believe.
[2:46] Yeah.
[2:48] Uh but you're going to see the results
[2:50] of what happens when you have a
[2:51] collaboration with the world's best car
[2:55] company and the world's best rocket
[2:56] company.
[2:58] >> [cheering]
[3:01] >> And this is this is the combination of
[3:04] uh incredible work by Tesla and SpaceX
[3:07] engineers working closely together
[3:10] to make something
[3:11] that
[3:13] you haven't seen in any movie.
[3:16] Uh that's uh
[3:18] better than any James Bond car.
[3:21] Better than Well, I don't know. I've
[3:23] never seen anything like this, so
[3:25] um
[3:27] You know, when I when I suggested this
[3:28] to the team, I thought, "Am I Am I
[3:30] crazy?"
[3:32] >> Me, too.
[3:33] >> Maybe a little bit.
[3:34] >> [laughter]
[3:36] >> Exactly. Am I crazy? Not at all.
[3:38] >> [laughter]
[3:40] >> 100% sane.
[3:43] Uh so uh
[3:46] And then things kind of built upon
[3:48] themselves and we're like, "Well, maybe
[3:50] we could do a little more of this, and a
[3:51] little more of that.
[3:53] And uh
[3:56] I think what you'll see here, by the
[3:58] way, success is not guaranteed.
[4:01] So, I want to you know
[4:04] I mean that.
[4:05] Uh
[4:08] It'll probably work.
[4:10] >> [laughter]
[4:11] >> But if it doesn't work
[4:13] we're at a safe distance.
[4:15] >> Yes.
[4:17] >> [laughter]
[4:18] >> And
[4:19] excitement is 100% guaranteed.
[4:24] So
[4:28] Yes, let's go.
[4:31] So, uh let's see.
[4:33] >> the future is autonomous, Elon, right?
[4:35] >> Yes.
[4:36] >> But this is not an autonomous car. It is
[4:39] the last
[4:40] >> it is technically autonomous for this
[4:41] demo to make sure we don't kill anyone.
[4:44] >> Correct.
[4:45] >> So
[4:46] just in case.
[4:47] Uh but uh this will actually be
[4:50] long-term the only uh manually driven
[4:54] car that Tesla makes.
[4:58] >> You got to have some fun sometimes.
[5:00] >> Yeah.
[5:01] And so, if you're going to have only one
[5:03] manually driven car,
[5:05] let's uh
[5:06] let's take it to the limits and way past
[5:09] the limits.
[5:12] >> Elon Elon had this crazy idea. Um I
[5:16] don't know where it came from, be great
[5:17] to to hear, but but we said
[5:20] >> an insane fever dream.
[5:21] >> All [laughter] right, guys, we got 10
[5:22] seconds.
[5:23] >> 7
[5:24] 6
[5:25] >> Should we count down?
[5:26] >> 4
[5:26] >> 4
[5:27] >> 3
[5:27] >> 3
[5:28] >> 2
[5:28] >> 2
[5:29] >> 1
[5:29] >> 1
[5:35] >> [music]
[5:46] [music]
[5:54] [music]
[5:59] [music]
[6:05] [music]
[6:21] [music]
[6:30] [music]
[6:38] [music]
[6:49] [music]
[6:59] [music]
[7:08] [music]
[7:21] [music]
[7:27] [music]
[7:35] [music]
[7:41] >> Well, it worked.
[7:44] Shoot.
[7:45] >> [cheering]
[7:46] >> Flying cars are real.
[7:49] >> Yeah.
[7:50] Well, you know, a friend of mine, Peter
[7:51] Thiel, once said that the future
[7:53] promised us flying cars, but instead we
[7:55] got 140 characters. Well, not anymore.
[7:58] >> Exactly.
[8:00] >> [laughter]
[8:05] >> That's not the last thing you'll see, by
[8:06] the way.
[8:07] >> [laughter]
[8:09] [cheering]
[8:11] >> To do that, we have a suction a fan
[8:13] suction system on the bottom of the car
[8:15] that can pull up to 2 Gs
[8:18] in order to make the car go upside down.
[8:20] And then, we borrowed some technology
[8:22] from SpaceX to do the rest.
[8:24] >> Yeah. I mean, this car really sucks,
[8:27] okay?
[8:28] This This car could suck the chrome off
[8:30] a trailer hitch.
[8:31] It could suck a tennis ball through a
[8:33] hose pipe.
[8:36] So, and it could stick upside down. Now,
[8:38] you might say like, "How often do you
[8:40] want to stick upside down in a car?"
[8:42] Maybe not that often.
[8:45] But, it actually has this the
[8:47] an actual benefit on the track or just
[8:50] driving
[8:52] where the the downforce of the car means
[8:54] you can corner incredibly well. Like,
[8:57] you can corner like it it looks like
[8:59] you're breaking physics cuz the car
[9:02] sticks to the ground so hard.
[9:04] Uh so, acceleration, cornering, it's
[9:06] it's going to crush every track record
[9:08] that has ever existed.
[9:10] So.
[9:12] >> [cheering]
[9:16] >> Yeah, I think uh the last time we
[9:20] put Roadster uh with SpaceX, we had
[9:22] Starman in it. And uh
[9:25] maybe we should check. Did we
[9:27] Did we put anyone in the car, folks?
[9:28] >> Yeah, I
[9:29] think Starman's going to make an
[9:30] appearance.
[9:33] I think he went for a little ride.
[9:36] >> Any minute now.
[9:36] >> Yeah.
[9:37] >> [laughter]
[9:38] >> So, yeah. There he is.
[9:42] No?
[9:43] Come on.
[9:45] >> [snorts]
[9:46] >> Anticipation.
[9:48] >> Me, buddy.
[9:48] >> All right, there he is.
[9:51] >> He's being quiet.
[9:55] >> Uh just to be clear, that is not a real
[9:57] human.
[9:58] >> Yeah.
[9:59] >> [laughter]
[10:00] >> So, the the the car has uh
[10:03] obviously attitude control thrusters and
[10:05] and main thrusters in the rear. So, it
[10:07] can basically fly like a rocket. Um
[10:11] and uh
[10:13] it it could do rolls, it could it do
[10:15] like crazy gymnastics.
[10:19] Whatever you want, really. Um
[10:21] now, I I should, you know, say that this
[10:23] is not uh necessarily a safety-optimized
[10:26] car.
[10:27] >> Okay.
[10:28] >> Um but, it is uh
[10:30] it it takes the the fun meter to 11 out
[10:34] of 10.
[10:35] >> But, speaking of fun meter,
[10:37] >> Yeah.
[10:37] >> you want to try one?
[10:38] >> Let's try something else.
[10:40] >> Yeah. Uh
[10:42] I mean, that was just a little flight.
[10:43] Let's do a longer flight.
[10:48] >> All right.
[10:50] See what
[10:56] >> [music]
[11:15] [music]
[11:21] [music]
[11:27] >> I mean, I've seen a lot of things, but
[11:29] I've I seen that before.
[11:33] >> Tony Hawk would be proud. We call that
[11:34] the kickflip.
[11:35] >> Yeah.
[11:36] >> [laughter]
[11:38] >> I think we could have cleared more than
[11:39] our whole fleet.
[11:41] >> Yeah, we can go we can go further.
[11:43] Uh
[11:45] Like this will be an actual car that's
[11:48] on the roads.
[11:50] >> [laughter]
[11:50] >> You know, I'm not sure it's necessarily
[11:52] legal in all jurisdictions, but uh
[11:55] like there will be such a car that a
[11:57] that someone can own.
[11:59] So, it's uh it's going to be pretty
[12:01] pretty wild that you can have a rocket
[12:03] car.
[12:04] >> Yeah, to do that we had the rockets we
[12:06] borrowed from SpaceX technology. You
[12:07] talked about the carbon overlaid
[12:09] pressure vessels. I just want to tell
[12:11] everyone cuz I'm a spec guy. There's two
[12:13] of them in the car. They are a total of
[12:14] 600 L is about 250 kilos of air. And uh
[12:18] we have 10 nozzles to do all that work.
[12:21] >> And the it's it's using an advanced uh
[12:25] ultra-high pressure uh
[12:28] air tank. So, the car can recharge its
[12:31] air tank. So, it's not like you
[12:33] you know, need special propellant or
[12:35] anything like that. It literally is just
[12:36] going to puff itself up and uh and and
[12:39] and be able to do this these maneuvers
[12:42] whenever you'd like.
[12:44] >> What but why don't we show them the car?
[12:47] So
[12:47] >> Should we bring it out?
[12:48] >> We Since we knew the car was going to
[12:49] fly since we knew Roadster was going to
[12:51] fly, we looked for some inspiration
[12:52] about flying and we thought we would
[12:54] lean into the most badass stuff out
[12:57] there SR-71, cars that transform.
[13:00] And that led us to
[13:04] the new Roadster.
[13:11] >> [music]
[13:17] [music]
[13:33] [music]
[13:42] [music]
[13:45] >> So now you get a up close look at the
[13:47] new Roadster. Thank you Andy and Lamar.
[13:49] Those guys are kicking ass on our
[13:51] engineering team making this all happen.
[13:54] We can see the car
[13:56] very clean. It's a nice clean aesthetic
[13:59] like we I said we leaned into a little
[14:00] bit of some of the aerospace aesthetics.
[14:04] Um it's a two-seater. I'll open it up.
[14:08] As you can see two guys got out of it.
[14:11] We leaned into lightweight as well so
[14:13] that the seats are molded into the
[14:15] chassis. It's a steer-by-wire system. So
[14:18] we have a steer-by-wire yoke,
[14:20] steer-by-wire brakes, steer-by-wire
[14:21] throttle.
[14:23] And as we get to the to the rear of the
[14:25] car, this is where a lot of the action
[14:28] you guys can't see it but on online
[14:31] in the diffuser area is where the
[14:32] thrusters are, the fans are and
[14:36] this is kind of the business end of of
[14:38] the car. But the car can transform
[14:41] because
[14:43] we wanted to make a pretty car but also
[14:45] a car that could deliver amazing
[14:46] downforce.
[14:50] So we'll turn the fans on for you.
[14:59] >> Sorry, it's a little loud here. Um
[15:02] but as Elon said, this car is meant to
[15:04] be the best driver's car and to do that
[15:06] we wanted to break the laws of physics.
[15:09] We put the fan sucker system on there to
[15:11] give us traction to be able to corner at
[15:14] greater than 2 Gs and accelerate um
[15:18] with all the traction that
[15:20] goes beyond the tires which is typically
[15:22] 1.26 Gs. You see here we have two modes.
[15:26] We have a high downforce mode and what's
[15:28] the car is in now is a is a low drag
[15:31] mode and the fan system also has two
[15:33] modes. It can suck the car down at low
[15:35] speed to give us traction when we need
[15:37] it and at high speed will open up the
[15:40] front and rear parts of the suction
[15:41] system to create even more flow
[15:43] underneath the car.
[15:45] >> Yeah, so if the the rear wing has
[15:49] variable pitch, so it can adjust the
[15:51] downforce dynamically
[15:53] and it will do it automatically based on
[15:55] on what it calculates you need when
[15:56] you're going around the track.
[15:58] >> But Elon, how fast did you want to go to
[16:00] 0 to 60? Can't remember.
[16:01] >> Well, you got to break 1 second.
[16:05] Obviously.
[16:05] >> I tested this the
[16:08] >> [music]
[16:14] >> Like this this goes fast.
[16:27] >> [music]
[16:29] >> We wanted
[16:30] >> [screaming]
[16:40] [music]
[16:46] >> All right, 1 second. Right, you said 1
[16:48] second.
[16:50] >> Well, well, I said less than 1 second.
[16:53] >> Oh Oh.
[16:55] >> [laughter]
[16:56] >> Hey guys, we have a car out there,
[16:57] right? Don't we have a car out there?
[17:00] Can you put it on the max just see let's
[17:01] try and be 1 second.
[17:09] >> [music]
[17:16] [music]
[17:26] [music]
[17:35] >> To me that's time.
[17:36] What was the time, guys? We didn't have
[17:38] a whole lot of room out on the pad, so
[17:40] we had to cut it short, but do we have a
[17:42] live time?
[17:47] I'm waiting for it.
[17:53] >> [laughter]
[17:54] >> Well, while we're getting the live time,
[17:56] you know, I will say this.
[17:59] Elon mentioned the rocket thrusters.
[18:01] You can see the the thrust is exiting
[18:03] the back of the four thrusters
[18:05] faster than the speed of sound, so you
[18:07] see the Mach diamonds. It actually It
[18:09] actually creates over 80 kN of thrust.
[18:13] >> Yeah, I mean there's the There are cars,
[18:16] and then there's one car that has Mach
[18:17] diamonds.
[18:19] >> I [laughter] think we broke the system.
[18:20] We didn't do it in 0.17 seconds.
[18:24] >> Yeah, okay, that's uh yeah, that 0.1
[18:26] seconds, I think we'd destroy the human
[18:28] if we did that.
[18:30] Uh
[18:30] >> Ah, there you go. There you go. 0.81
[18:34] seconds.
[18:34] >> Yeah, there we go.
[18:35] >> Yeah, that's what we
[18:42] >> We'll do it and and we we we anticipate
[18:44] being able to do better than that.
[18:46] Uh
[18:48] I I mean I I always like the Newton's
[18:51] formula F equals MA as A equals F over
[18:53] M.
[18:54] So, as you increase force and decrease
[18:56] mass, you get more acceleration.
[18:59] So,
[19:00] uh the production car will actually do
[19:02] better than that.
[19:04] So, we'll just we'll just ride the limit
[19:06] of
[19:07] don't detach the retina of the human in
[19:09] the car.
[19:12] Oh.
[19:13] Yeah.
[19:15] >> Well, it is the world's quickest car's
[19:17] production car 0 to 60. It'll do a half
[19:20] a mile in the time that other cars can
[19:21] do a quarter mile.
[19:23] Um
[19:25] And I think that's really what we wanted
[19:27] to say today. What else we got? Anything
[19:28] else?
[19:30] >> No, I mean
[19:31] >> Top speed.
[19:32] >> Oh, yeah, yeah, top speed, of course.
[19:33] Yeah, yeah. Um
[19:36] Uh yeah, yeah. Depends on your street,
[19:38] but uh
[19:40] it'll be a viable car.
[19:44] And uh yeah, so
[19:46] uh we're going to have actually a
[19:47] follow-on uh demo
[19:50] uh that's
[19:53] or two. Or two.
[19:54] >> Yeah, yeah.
[19:55] >> Uh
[19:55] >> Multiples.
[19:56] >> So, I don't Like, I don't know if this
[19:57] is possible or not, but um
[20:01] some people may know about Evil
[20:02] Knievel's attempt to jump the Snake
[20:04] River Canyon.
[20:05] >> Oh, yeah.
[20:08] >> Let's give it another shot.
[20:13] >> And we thought this was crazy.
[20:15] >> [laughter]
[20:15] >> Yeah, man, that's going to look nuts.
[20:21] >> We're going to have to go pretty fast to
[20:22] do that,
[20:22] >> [laughter]
[20:23] >> like really fast. We're going to need a
[20:24] running start.
[20:25] >> Yeah, yeah, we'll need a running start,
[20:26] yeah.
[20:28] >> Um but yeah, the car can go over 230 uh
[20:30] miles per hour. Hopefully, uh we can get
[20:33] even faster.
[20:34] >> Definitely much faster than that. Yeah.
[20:36] >> How fast?
[20:38] >> Well, I think you got to go at least
[20:41] uh
[20:42] you got to crack halfway to the speed of
[20:45] sound, I think.
[20:46] >> Okay.
[20:47] >> Yeah. Mach 0.5.
[20:49] Maybe a little higher.
[20:51] >> All right, challenge on.
[20:52] >> Challenge accepted, sir.
[20:53] >> Yes.
[20:55] >> Where we're going, you don't need tires.
[20:57] >> [laughter]
[21:01] >> So, today marks the day that uh we build
[21:04] the first world's best flying car and
[21:07] the last best driver's car. When do you
[21:09] want to get it to customers?
[21:12] >> Uh we we we enter production uh in 2028.
[21:16] Actually.
[21:17] >> Actually?
[21:17] >> [laughter]
[21:18] >> For real?
[21:21] >> [cheering]
[21:22] >> Anything left in your bag?
[21:26] >> Yeah.
[21:29] I think we might have one more uh little
[21:31] thing.
[21:32] >> Should we do it?
[21:32] >> Let's go. Yeah, yeah, sure. Yeah.
[21:33] >> Okay.
[21:34] >> Yeah.
[21:34] >> Let's do the last thing.
[21:36] >> [laughter]
[21:39] [music]
[21:47] [music]
[21:57] [music]
[22:06] [music]
[22:18] [music]
[22:25] [music]
[22:29] [music]
[22:35] [music]
[22:44] [music]
[22:49] [music]
[23:07] [music]
[23:20] >> Mhm.
