Detailed notes

## Detailed walkthrough ### [00:00](https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1FvxE6pETL?t=0s)

```mermaid flowchart TD accTitle: Robinhood 业务投入与损益结构 accDescr: 展示 Robinhood 新业务拓展、获客补贴与当期财报成本压力的逻辑关系
- 信贷损失拨备从 2600 万美元激增至 7100 万美元,增幅达 173%。 - 运营支出由 3300 万美元大幅推高至 7900 万美元,同比上涨 16%。 - 行政管理支出(G&A)下降 12%,营销费用仅微增 2%。 - 预测市场业务展现出强劲吸金能力,年化经常性收入(ARR)突破 1 亿美元。
[02:10](https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1FvxE6pETL?t=130s) 信用卡“赔本赚吆喝”与 AI 智能体交易现状
市场对 Robinhood 成本剧增的另一大猜测,在于其是否正在将 Gold 信用卡作为一项“赔本赚吆喝”(loss leader)的工具。提供高达 3% 的现金返还政策,在历史上几乎都是亏本买卖,后续的 10-Q 文件将进一步披露具体亏损情况。但 Robinhood 的如意算盘非常明确:宁愿承担这笔补贴,也要借此让用户频繁打开 App,并将他们引导进入银行账户、信托账户以及退休账户体系。平台持卡用户数增长迅猛,从 5 月份的 80 万急剧扩张至目前的 130 万。Kevin 甚至半开玩笑地建议公司应该彻底放开申请门槛,给所有想要的人发卡:“只要你保证每个月‘逢跌买入’一次,你就拿 3% 返还,这会把所有人都吸引回 App 里!”
此外,公司在财报中还大肆宣传其推出的“代理型 AI 交易”(agentic AI trading),允许散户以程序化方式设定个性化交易策略。目前约有 20 万名客户使用该功能,但按照对股票交易收取 10 个基点的手续费计算,这项业务当前仅贡献了区区 160 万美元的收入,在整体财务中不过是沧海一粟。如果希望这项功能真正赚钱,公司必须促成这些 AI 代理去进行期权交易。
“It's a money loser. We don't have all the details yet because their 10Q is not out yet. It'll be out in a couple days. But this is their earnings release, and usually what we find is that the gold card loses Robinhood money. It's essentially a loss leader to get people into the platform using the app regularly.” Kevin 直截了当地指出。
- Gold 信用卡持卡用户从 5 月的 80 万人激增至 130 万人。 - 3% 现金返还虽然短期内造成亏损,但能作为切入信托与退休账户的流量入口。 - AI 代理交易账户拥有 20 万用户,但股票端仅产生约 1.6 百万美元营收。 - 加密货币相关收入虽击败此前预期,但同比仍录得下滑,拖累月活表现。
[05:00](https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1FvxE6pETL?t=300s) 比特币联动效应、估值逻辑与中东局势催化
Robinhood 股价的起伏本质上与比特币行情高度绑定。此前在课程直播中,团队曾在 69 美元至 70 美元低位多次提示买入机会,随后股价的大幅反弹很大程度上归功于比特币脱离 60,000 美元的“严冬”并一度飙升至 80,000 美元区间。由于加密货币交易能为平台提供极高利润率,比特币行情的停滞直接导致了 Robinhood 动能放缓。从估值角度看,目前公司对应约 2 倍的市盈增长比(PEG),华尔街给予的长期年增长预期为 20%。如果 Robinhood 能够跑通预测市场和银行业务,实际增速很可能会超出预期,因此当前估值具备长期合理性。但目前股价仅较近期高位回调 5% 至 10%,尚未出现像前期 SoFi 那样令人心动的“深度折扣”。
在行情分析的穿插中,Kevin 顺带提及了当日早盘对 AMD 和 Bloom Energy 两个成功的多头交易预测(Bloom 收涨超 7%,AMD 收涨超 5%)。对于 Robinhood 的后市走势,他认为除了股价回踩 69 至 70 美元提供技术买点外,外部核心催化剂在于比特币与地缘局势。一旦有关伊朗的地缘局势达成协议或取得突破,比特币极有可能快速暴涨,届时 Robinhood 将迎来新一轮戴维斯双击。
“I think you could end up pushing growth here substantially if you pulled the right initiatives and really hit people at the right timing. I think they could do it.” Kevin 认为如果管理层打法得当,Robinhood 完全有能力突破 20% 的预期增速。
- Robinhood 股价强支撑位位于 69 至 70 美元区间。 - 当前市场估值给予其 PEG 约为 2,预期年复合增长率为 20%。 - 股价自近期高位回调幅度约为 5% 至 10%,深度安全垫尚未完全形成。 - 密切关注伊朗局势带来的风险偏好变化及比特币反弹带来的高贝塔效应。
[08:00](https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1FvxE6pETL?t=480s) 美银杠杆债务警报与散户“熊市闭眼”心态
市场情绪面上,美国银行(Bank of America)通过 CNBC 发布警报,指出股票市场中的保证金债务(margin debt)增速急剧放缓,FINRA 的杠杆数据增速已落后于 5 月水平,美银将其视作市场见顶的“红旗警告”。但 Kevin 对这种过度悲观的论调不以为然。他回顾了 4 月和 5 月市场的疯狂加杠杆状态——当时大家像“劫后余生”一般疯狂拉满杠杆狂欢炒股,最终引发了著名的散户爆仓悲剧(例如 Leo Fold 被迫平仓后一把梭哈期权并遭遇惨败)。经历过这种震荡后,散户显然对杠杆借贷更加谨慎。
从长期历史周期来看,2026 年 5 月的杠杆峰值远未达到 2000 年互联网泡沫或 2007 年金融危机前的极端水平,当前市场更像是处于牛市行情的“中周期反弹”(mid-cycle rallies),绝非即将把经济拖入衰退的绝对大顶。然而,大盘的连日阴跌确实直接伤害了 Robinhood 的基本面:当市场遭遇恐慌暴跌时,普通散户往往选择“不见为净”(monkeys see no evil),甚至根本不愿意打开 App 交易。这种消极观望情绪直接压制了 Robinhood 的交易佣金与活跃度,只有等待行情扭转或比特币再度爆发,才能打破这一僵局。
“FINRA margin data has grown at a slower pace. And they're basically saying, hey, we're growing slower than we did in May. And I'm thinking to myself, bro, no shit, man. Dude, everybody was buying stocks in April after we got a deal, man. It was just like April of last year.” Kevin 讽刺美银的大惊小怪,指出杠杆放缓是散户在惨痛教训后的自然避险行为。
- 美银警告 FINRA 保证金债务增长速度大幅放缓,释放见顶风险信号。 - 历史对比显示,当前债务水平未达 2000 年或 2007 年的系统性泡沫峰值,更接近周期中段。 - 市场下行期散户普遍产生抗拒开盘软件的畏缩心理,导致交易活跃度阶段性萎缩。
[10:00](https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1FvxE6pETL?t=600s) Prediction Market Competition and User Acquisition Strategy
Robinhood faces a tough uphill climb to expand margins on its prediction markets due to fierce competition in the space. Meet Kevin highlights Kalshi as a premier competitor that he personally uses, noting that they sponsor his channel and provide sign-up incentives. Robinhood will have to step up its marketing significantly if it intends to gain traction and lure traders onto its platform for prediction contracts.
Because cryptocurrency activity has cooled down and no longer serves as an automatic funnel, Robinhood has shifted toward alternative loss leaders to bring new money in the door. The company is leaning heavily into credit cards, everyday banking, trust accounts, and Roth IRAs—especially as retail investors turn their attention toward year-end retirement contributions. However, these banking and retirement products fail to generate the type of rapid, hyper-charged growth that excites Wall Street.
Robinhood's headline transaction-based revenue grew 19% year-over-year, which is solid, but investor enthusiasm is really focused on the "other revenues" line item, where prediction markets surged 61%. Meet Kevin argues that the financial metrics themselves are not poor; rather, the post-earnings selloff comes down to weak user numbers. As Meet Kevin points out: “My overall guess here in terms of why Robinhood's down is just the user numbers.”
```mermaid flowchart LR accTitle: Robinhood Loss Leader Ecosystem accDescr: Robinhood uses traditional banking products as loss leaders to bring users into high-margin trading and prediction markets. subgraph LossLeaders["Acquisition Hooks (Loss Leaders)"] CC["3% Cashback Credit Card"] Bank["Everyday Banking"] Retire["Roth IRAs & Trusts"] end subgraph Monetization["High-Margin Growth Engines"] Pred["Prediction Markets (+61% Rev)"] Trading["Securities & Options (+19% Tx Rev)"] end CC --> Trading Bank --> Pred Retire --> Trading ```

- Kalshi offers a direct incentive of $25 on first trades, showcasing the aggressive promotions Robinhood must counter. - Headline transaction revenue rose 19% year-over-year. - Prediction market revenue climbed 61% year-over-year, marking the fastest-growing component in the "other revenue" category.

[11:45](https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1FvxE6pETL?t=705s) Balance Sheet Health and the Maturing Growth Cycle

A line-by-line inspection of Robinhood's balance sheet reveals substantial financial resilience. Looking at consumer-facing obligations and assets—such as securities loans, payables to users, receivables, and segregated cash—the accounts largely balance out to roughly $23 billion to $24 billion on either side. Fractional shares likewise offset neatly, leaving the firm with approximately $1.3 billion in true bills against a massive pile of liquid cash reserves.

The fundamental challenge is that Robinhood has entered a more mature, slower-growth corporate phase. When a platform's historic catalyst—runaway cryptocurrency trading volume—tapers off, finding novel reasons for users to open the app each morning becomes significantly more difficult. When that forward operational momentum slows, equity markets tend to penalize the valuation multiple regardless of whether the balance sheet is clean.

Kevin emphasizes the underlying strength of the company's financial footing: “You got plenty of fricking cash at the company, which is fantastic.”

- Robinhood's user payables and securities lending obligations sit around $23 billion to $24 billion, almost completely counterbalanced by customer-segregated cash and receivables. - Net underlying corporate obligations (bills) total roughly $1.3 billion, easily covered by the company's existing cash hoard. - Maturing product lines have temporarily stalled Robinhood's rapid multiple expansion, leading to valuation compression.

[13:00](https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1FvxE6pETL?t=780s) Margin Debt Headwinds and Bank of America's Bubble Thesis

A notable headwind impacting Robinhood's top line is the stagnation in margin debt. As retail borrowing subsides, the platform earns less on interest, with net interest revenue declining 9% year-over-year. While aggregate nominal margin debt hovers near historical highs, it has yet to rebound meaningfully past the post-liquidation drop. Geopolitical tension with Iran, nervousness heading into the U.S. presidential election, and anticipation around the Federal Reserve's rate decisions have kept traders cautious about taking on leverage.

Bank of America has flagged this plateau in margin debt along with widening high-yield credit spreads and defensive sector rotations into healthcare as warning signs of an impending market bubble. Kevin strongly disagrees with characterizing defensive rotations as bubble dynamics, calling that perspective completely unfounded. Instead, he argues that high-yield credit spreads have already peaked, which typically signals a bullish market environment. Because Robinhood stock moves in lockstep with broader speculative risk-on sentiment, any market-wide relief rally post-election could lift the shares. Nevertheless, Kevin prefers to wait for a deeper discount before buying back into Robinhood.

Expressing his skepticism over Wall Street's gloomy diagnosis, Kevin states: “These dynamics provide further evidence that the markets continue to move towards a more bubble-like state. But in a place like that, if people think there's going to be some kind of poopy doopy in the market, then obviously a brokerage isn't going to do super well like Robinhood. So anyway, I think there are opportunities there. I would probably wait for a lower price on Robinhood.”

- Robinhood's net interest revenue declined 9% year-over-year as margin utilization stagnated. - Nominal margin debt remains near records but has struggled to expand beyond recent liquidation levels due to election and geopolitical risks. - Bank of America interprets defensive sector rotations into utilities and healthcare as signs of late-stage market bubble fragility. - Kevin identifies peaked credit spreads as a contrarian bullish indicator, but cautions that retail brokerages require broader investor exuberance to thrive, concluding that investors should hold off for better entry pricing on HOOD shares.

## Video description 【Meet Kevin】 Robinhood财报不及预期,散户该抄底还是离场? Yikes Robinhood Earnings

[10:00] Meet Kevin: My overall guess here in terms of why Robinhood's down is just the user numbers.

Original transcript

[0:00] Robinhood just reported earnings. Here's exactly what you've got to know about what's going on. Monthly active users came in out of this, and it's making people a little bit nervous. Their net income missed as well, but those monthly active users are what get people really excited. And so there's some impression that maybe what they're doing is they're trying to send people more, hey, you finally have your Robinhood gold card, come join us to get people back into the app. has skyrocketed. I mean, you went from $26 million on credit losses to $71 in the quarter, up 173%. Plus, their operation costs have gone up quite a bit from $33 million to $79 million in the quarter. Some of this is because of the expenses on launching the prediction market expansion that they've done with Rothera right after the World Cup. and sort of scaling this out. They argue that Rothera is now making them over $100 million in annual recurring revenue, which is freaking awesome. Awesome. And it really shows there's a lot of money to be made in the prediction markets. And because they're not... regulated in a way that stock exchanges are. You don't have to have a broker dealer and then a separate exchange and then a separate clearing company. You could kind of have a. all three of those be Robin Hood in partnership with Ronera. So it gives them more opportunity to pick up different parts of that value chain and basically make more dollar hollas, which, you know, who doesn't like making more dollar hollas? The problem is they didn't make more dollar hollas. Their expenses... went up so much over here that their total expenses, even though Vlad started cutting costs, well, he's been cutting costs for a few years, honestly, but even though Vlad managed to cut GNA costs by 12% and only spent 2% more on marketing. These guys are notoriously a little stingy on marketing, I will say. And honestly, they've got some good products, so they don't really have to spend more, right? So you got to give credit where credit's due. Even though they were very disciplined over here, their operating expenses were still up 16% overall. And so, you know, that led to some people scratching their heads a little bit, going, here, are these exploding this much? Is this potentially because were using the gold card as a loss leader. Now, my opinion historically has been the answer is yes. The gold card is At 3% cash back is probably costing, and we've seen this historically that it does. It's a money loser. We don't have all the details yet because their 10Q is not out yet. It'll be out in a couple days. But this is their earnings release, and usually what we find is that the gold card loses Robinhood money. It's essentially a loss leader to get people into the platform using the app regularly. They're also bragging, and rightfully so, about agentic AI trading, which is kind of cool, where you can programmatically set up how you want to potentially trade. customers using agentic trading accounts. At 10 basis points on stocks, that's only about $1.6 million of revenue, so it's really a drop in the bucket. You'd really need those agents trading options if you really want to see them make some more money. But... You could see what they're trying to do is grow again because Robinhood is generally really associated with Bitcoin. More on that in a moment. But in May, Robinhood was sitting at 800,000 users. Write that correctly there. They're sitting at 800,000 users on their gold card. And since... That's exploded to 1.3 million. So I think what's happened is they invited a ton of more people to get into their credit card because I think they think that's going to help them grow their banking business. That's going to help them grow trust accounts. That's going to help them grow their retirement accounts. And honestly, I think they're right. Like, frankly... If I were them, I'd be ramping up these gold card invites. I would almost go, all right, boys and girls, whoever wants a gold card, you can have it. Okay, and you know what? You get your 3% cash back. As long as you buy the dip once again. once a month. Dude, you'd get people opening this damn app all the freaking time. Now, there are probably some compliance reasons as to why you can't tell people to buy the dip. You know, I suppose you could say do something, you know, fund a little bit towards your stock or brokerage account. I don't know. I'm sure you can figure it out. But the point is, you know, the stock really seems disappointed right now because of the miss in monthly active users and the declining crypto revenue, which is down again year over year. Although it did beat expectations. and we'll look at the valuation here too it tends to align at least in my opinion with the Bitcoin cycle We, in our course member livestreams, got really excited about this at $69.00. and we really pitched this. We were sitting at $69 for a few days. We sat in the low 70s for a few weeks. We were really bullish on Robinhood then. And then what happened is what really [5:00] lifted hood. I mean, I'm not trying to take credit away from hood, but what really lifted hood was the Bitcoin cycle. As soon as Bitcoin rockets, man, Robinhood tends to do well, because it's just a high margin place for Robinhood to crank income, frankly. And so, you know, in addition to the World Cup and prediction markets, when Bitcoin finally came out of this little winter territory around 60,000 over here, and we've now been rubber rubber banding around this 80,000 line. That's what hood was doing. Well, problem is, you know, we're kind of seeing that slow down again and Bitcoin and it's a drag a little bit again. So we're kind of dragging right down with it. I think that creates opportunities, especially if we can get back down into the seventies or 69. It's obviously disappointing for anybody who's a long-term investor, because I think what the company is doing is great, but it's not really trading for like a huge sexy discount right now not like what sofi was the discount that we have right now on Robin Hood is maybe five to ten percent I think it's pretty close now quick note we do have a coupon code expiring Friday so if you want to be part of our fundamental analysis every day we do fundamental analysis on stocks we update more fundamental analysis on our terminal as well which our terminals not out yet but so on the current website that we have as well for course members you know we see that historical fundamental analysis as well which I think is very very useful. Join us at reinvestone.com. We had a really good trade call this morning, by the way, that both AMD would rally and Bloom Energy would rally. And these two stocks freaking killed it once the market opened up today. Bluma closed at over 7%. And if you look at AMD, it closed up over 5%. Really impressive. But anyway, going back to the actual financials here on hood, you've got right now a peg ratio of roughly about two. So price earnings growth ratio of about two. Markets are expecting that they're going to grow at 20% per year. I actually think that's a little bit low. I think you could end up pushing growth here substantially if you pulled the right initiatives and really hit people at the right timing. I think they could do it. Now, that makes me bullish on hood. Would I want to buy them at a two peg or wait? Honestly, with the momentum right now and where Bitcoin is, until there's a deal on Iran and or Bitcoin rallies, because if there a deal on Iran I think Bitcoin will skyrocket up to really well really quickly and if Robinhood lags on that you want to be sort of in that cycle that personalized financial advice of course But that makes me pretty excited. Right now, we're just sort of in a little bit of a down momentum argument. And there's also a bit of a margin warning that Bank of America came out with. Now, you know, I think they're being a little extreme on this. But CNBC is reporting that Bank of America is reporting, that's a mouthful, that margin debt growth has slowed sharply in the stock market and that this is creating warning signs in the market. Apparently, FINRA margin data has grown at a slower pace. And they're basically saying, hey, we're growing slower than we did in May. And I'm thinking to myself, bro, no SH-9T, man. Dude, everybody was buying stocks in April after we got a deal, man. It was just like April of last year. You know, it was like after liberation. Things got so cheap, it's like, let's go party. Come on, Bobby, let's go party. Everybody was pulling out margin out of every freaking orifice they could get their hands on. And that's how we ended up getting Leo Fold. So of course margin debt growth is slower after we got Leo Fold getting publicly executed basically And then he goes YOLOs into options with the leftover money that he has and he probably already gotten hosed on that again People are learning lessons that debt is not that great in a volatile market. But anyway, if you look at the peak of May of 2026, it's not as high as some of these prior peaks that we've seen during March of 2000 or 2007. I actually think we're probably closer to somewhere in these mid-cycle rallies, not some form of permanent peak that's going to end up dumping us into a recession. Obviously, that could be a contributor to Robinhood's performance as well, though, because if people think the market's going to go down, well, guess what? Fewer people are going to trade stocks. That's the way it is. Like, you know, we notice on really red days in the market, fewer people are interested in, you know, being involved in the stock market. More people want to know what's going on, like what the hell is happening, but fewer people are actually interested in buying because there's real fear. That means people just aren't even opening up their Robinhood app. That could be one of the problems, too. You know, market's going down for too long. People don't want to open the app. They don't want to look. They're kind of like monkeys see no evil. I don't know. I think they do great when Bitcoin rallies. Until then, they've really [10:00] got to prove that they can grow out these margins on prediction markets and there is a lot of competition for the prediction markets uh like if i was going to name a prediction market that i thought was a great prediction market i personally use it as well and i find they're great well that might be calci so calci you got a little banner here they are a sponsor of the channel the sponsor of the startup. You get a free $25 when you sign up for Calci at meetkevin.com slash prediction. You'd also scan the QR code. You get $25 when you make your first trade. But there's a lot of competition for these prediction markets. It's not just Robinhood. And I know Robinhood wants in the game. But... There's, you know, Robinhood's probably going to have to step up their marketing if they really want to grow the prediction game and get people into the app. And that's, I think, exactly what they're doing with their credit card. is, hey, maybe we can loss lead people in because we can't loss people in lead people in with crypto right now because it's just not as exciting. So let's get them in on banking or let's get them in on Roths or trust accounts because people focus on their retirement accounts a little bit more at the end of the year. Those things, unfortunately, just don't drive that much sexy growth, if you will. I mean, headline transaction based revenue at Robinhood was up 19% year over year, which is great. But, you know, people aren't jumping up and down about that. People are excited about these other revenues going up right here. These other revenues, this is where we're going to see some more of these new market revenues. Prediction markets up 61%. That's great. So my only guess... Because overall, these numbers aren't bad. My overall guess here in terms of why Robinhood's down is just the user numbers. Because... where you're making money, you're doing well. you are, in fairness, spending a little bit more proportionately. Those could be your lost leaders. But overall... balance sheets in a great If we go take a look at some of these here, let's do it together. So we've got securities loans, payables to users. Let's call it 12, 12, 24. I got receivables and cash set aside. That works out to about 23. So those are almost washed. These are your consumer customer bases right here. Almost washed right here. Fractional gets washed with this, which means we really have bills about $1.3 billion. We'll highlight that right here. These are your bills. And okay, we're just highlighting single digits, I guess here. And then here's your cash. You got plenty of fricking cash at the company, which is fantastic. So. overall, Balance sheets good. cash flows there We've got revenues that are growing. Maybe not as much as historically because crypto is a little bit slower. But the prediction market side is coming in. It's got competition. You need more reasons to get people to the app. And that... is kind of a more mature growth phase for a company like Robinhood. And that's why sometimes growth can slow down at companies like this. on the stock. Because that's that momentum, that forward momentum slows and the stock market doesn't like that. Taking a look again at this margin debt piece here, some would argue that this decline in margin debt is also bad for Robinhood, because if people are taking out less debt, then maybe they're borrowing less and they're paying less interest to Robinhood. We did see net interest paid. actually go down as well. Right here, net interest revenue down 9% year over year. Interesting. Now, if we jump on over here, we can see margin debt remains near its record. These are nominal numbers. So rather than growth rates, these are nominal numbers of margin debt. You can see we did have that drop in liquidations, but we just haven't grown past that yet. I think there's a lot of nervousness because of Iran and the election and otherwise. Really good shot, though, that... Hey, who knows? Election's done, Fed's done after tomorrow, and we end up maybe getting a deal one of these days. There. Things could end up doing pretty well for Robinhood. Bank of America sees other market signs, though, including higher credit spreads on high yields. So we talked about credit spreads this morning. We actually think they have peaked out. which is actually bullish for the market when the market goes bullish a hood tends to go bullish a bank of America also says there's a rotation towards defensives and health care well like defensives and health care and the problem with that is that you might end up seeing those as Bubble signs. That's what they're arguing. I think this is a little loony coony here. These dynamics provide further evidence that the markets continue to move towards a more bubble-like state. But in a place like that, if people think there's going to be some kind of poopy doopy in the market, then obviously a brokerage isn't going to do super well like Robinhood. So anyway, I think there are opportunities there. I would probably wait for a lower price on Robinhood. is [15:00] perfect thing for us to say about it. Oh man. If you liked that video, check this one out. I think you're going to love it. Why not advertise these things that you told us here? I feel like nobody else knows about this. We'll try a little advertising and see how it goes. Congratulations, man. You have done so much. People love you. People look up to you. Kevin Paffer, financial analyst.
